SICKRECY / DISTASTE - MAN'S THE LEECH / OPPRESSOR: SALVATIO
Country: Sweden / Austria
Year: 2025
Label: Murder Records / Flyktsoda Records / Global Help Records / Necro Records / Throne Of Lies Records / 7 Degrees Records / Helldog Records / Sickrec(y)
Back in May, this killer split 7” was released, featuring Sweden’s SICKRECY and Austria’s DISTASTE.This 7” was brought out by Murder Records (Hail my necro-brother Danihell) in collaboration with the following labels: Flyktsoda Records, Global Help Records, Necro Records, Throne Of Lies Records, 7 Degrees Records, Helldog Records, and Sickrec(y). SICKRECY, active since 2021, have released (besides this split 7”) a full-length album in 2022, an EP, and several other splits. Their music is intense and infernal-full of nerve and pulse. This is old-school grindcore, heavily influenced by the glorious late '80s and early '90s era, back when everything felt raw, pure, and groundbreaking-though they add their own distinct flair and character. The two tracks on their side of the split, “Man’s The Leech” and “Last In Line”, are fast and dynamic, following the path carved by the likes of Napalm Death, Terrorizer, Repulsion, and other classic death/grind heroes. Expect supersonic drums, punk/hardcore-influenced bass lines, razor-sharp guitar riffs, and brutal vocals that spit each word straight into the face of every poser out there. Absolutely crushing! Also, check out our very interesting interview with Martin Eriksson HERE to get to know SICKRECY better. The cover artwork is sick and twisted, created by the artist therottedorg. The other two tracks on this split - “Vater” and “Diarrhetorik”, belong to Austria’s DISTASTE. These grind veterans have been active since 2000, with a strong discography under their belt. Their songs are extremely fast, featuring warped and brutal vocals that will spike your blood pressure. The guitar riffs are insane and possessed, the bass rumbles with the weight needed to support the chaos, and the drums are fantastic, full-on blast beats, technical sections, and fiery double bass drumming… at times it sounds like a blender going off. Hahaha! Bravo, guys. DISTASTE destroy everything in their path. In their music, you’ll hear influences ranging from the old thrash gods Slayer, early Sepultura, the grind pioneers Napalm Death, to the brutal death metal legends Deicide, Dying Fetus etc. And yet, DISTASTE have carved out their own personality and sonic identity that will satisfy any fan of extreme grind and brutal death metal. Also worth mentioning is their sick and murderous cover art, created by Armin Schweiger (vocals/rhythm guitar), who also is a tattoo artist. To learn more about DISTASTE, check out our interview with Lukas (vocals/lead guitar) HERE. This split 7” is available on red colored vinyl. All die-hard fans of the genre, take note! And as my necro-brother Danihell Slaughter says: “NOISE ON… WORLD OFF...”.
