Welcome to the FILTHY DOGS OF METAL Webzine.
Tell us a few things about IGNOMINIA (Members, Starting Year etc).
Hello Brothers thank you for your interest in the band Ignominia was born in the early 2000's as Death Metal Band with lyrics i'm Spanish
Líne Up is:
Andrés Valdés - Guitars
Pablo Valdés - Bass
Fernando Mardones - Drums
Marco Gajardo Sotomayor - Vocals & Guitars
In 2023 you released your album ''Procesión de la muerte''. What was the feedback from your audience as well as from the press?
Yes, that's right. We released our album in 2023 under the Chilean label Connuctione Incesta, with 100 copies on cassette. Then, in January 2024, it was released by the Chinese label Awakening Records on CD, with 1000 copies. The audience feedback was very good, fantastic. Many people bought copies. Labels and distributors in our country also showed interest in our work. We also received very good reviews from zines in Spain, Poland, Italy, the USA, and Latin America.

The cover artwork has a killer atmosphere! Tell us a few things about it.
The cover was created by Nox Fragort Art from Temuco and is an oil painting on canvas, under the concept of Ignominy. He was also the author of the cover of Cenotafio (and plays in the band), and was also involved in the creation of the logo and cover of Umbrio and Existential Emptiness and more recently, the cover of Devoured God.
And what about the lyrics?
The lyrics are in Spanish, the topics we use include a hard critique of religion and the church, some references to ancient cultures, and social criticism from perhaps a darker point of view.
Is there any funny or weird story from the recordings or from your live shows that you would like to share with us?
We could share a funny anecdote: at a couple of concerts, people would climb onto the stage trying to take the mic from me to sing, ha ha ha.
How did your cooperation with Awakening Records occur? What do you prefer most, Label or DIY and why?
The collaboration with Awakening Records came through our bassist, Pablo Valdés. We reached a very good agreement, a release of 1000 copies in jewel case format. Currently, we believe that labels are a better option since they have a more comprehensive distribution network with other labels in different countries, which allows us greater reach.

Do you prefer Vinyl, Tape, CD or Digital Format and why is that?
For us, the most important thing is the physical material in all its formats: Vinyl, CD and Cassette. Regarding the digital format, we believe it is quite useful but geared towards webzines or some labels that promote their releases using platforms like bandcamp, spotify, youtube.
Your music style is Death Metal. Which are your main influences (Favourite Artists / Bands etc.)
Our influences include various styles such as classic heavy metal, thrash, doom, and black metal, with death metal being a particular highlight. We draw from the European, Scandinavian, and American scenes, and even some from the Finnish scene. Bands like Morbid Angel, Hypocrisy(old), Slayer(old), Dark Angel(old), Death, Deicide(old), Sinister, Vital Remains, Abhorrrence and Ancient Rites are among our influences.
Which things do you think a band should sacrifice in order to succeed? Have you ever sacrificed anything in your life for a better future for your band?
We believe that sacrifices begin the moment you decide to be in a band, including family and other things. You can't sacrifice your studies or job; if you have financial, there's certainly no problem. Success in a band is forged by the conviction of each member, a single core, and doing things right.
Describe your ideal live show as a performance band. Have you already experienced that?
For Ignominia, an ideal concert is one where the conditions meet our requirements: good sound, lighting, and backline. We've opened for Demonical (Sweden) and Morbosatan (Peru) in Chile, and both concerts were excellent.

What do you think about the rise of AI in music production?
It's shit.
What attributes do you think that a new Death Metal Band should have in order to gain identity and be unique?
There are many clone bands these days. Death Metal, Thrash, etc. A band's identity should be developed from the beginning, with conviction, influences, and the sound they want. You can listen to suggestions or opinions, but it's really something that flows naturally. You can't just listen to "hey, play Black Metal," whatever's trendy. The bands that stand out today do so because they truly want to create something, with an interesting mix of influences and tastes from each member, not by copying others.
Do you believe that Digital Platforms help the new Death Metal Bands? Which, do you think, is the ideal way for a band to promote its work?
We believe all platforms are valid and useful for promoting each band's work; you have to adapt to the times. Ideally, a combined promotion and distribution strategy is used, utilizing social media and platforms like Spotify, Deezer, YouTube, Bandcamp, etc. Of course, the traditional method remains the most important reaching fans directly through sales and trades, personal interactions, music fairs, selling and trading merchandise, and collaborating with record labels and distributors.
From your experience in the music industry, what would you tell to a new Death Metal band to avoid or what to do?
Do your job as seriously as possible. Being in a death metal band is a responsibility. If you just want to party all the time, the underground scene isn't for you. This will help you establish the band, secure real opportunities for live events, and connect with labels.
What does Death Metal mean to you? And give us 10 metal albums that run in your veins.

Tell us a few things about the New Underground Metal Scene in Chile (Bands, Fanzines, Webzines, Metal Clubs etc.)
There's a new scene with greater reach on digital platforms, more advertising, more venues, and more coverage of events, news, etc. What used to be print is now digital or audiovisual. That said, there's a lot of "friendship between producers and bands," bands that benefit from this. The backstage areas are terrible—small and dirty—something that needs improvement. Producers, in general, must meet the demands of the bands. We could say that the internet killed the initial enthusiasm, but we must use the tools of these times without ever abandoning the old school, the clubs, and physical media. A new era to stay relevant and sow hatred and eternal darkness.
Do you know anything about the Hellenic Metal Scene?
We only know a couple of bands from the Greek scene, like the classic Flames, Rotting Christ, Necromantia, Thou Art Lord, Caedes Cruenta Naer Mataron, and Kawir (both bands played in Chile). What we also know is that the great George Kollias is Greek, haha...
What are your future plans?
We continue to promote our latest studio album, with live concerts and we are already working on some new songs to record a new studio album, which we hope will be recorded in mid-2027.
Thank you very much for your time & keep up the good work! The closure is yours.
We want to express our gratitude for the interest shown in Ignominia by a fanzine from Greece, a country with a rich history and a vibrant underground metal scene. We will continue our genuine contribution to the underground, true to our convictions, not following trends.
