Interview with CURSE OF EIBON

!!!MELODIC SWEDISH DEATH METAL!!!

We had a conversation with Fredrik. Enjoy!

Welcome to the FILTHY DOGS OF METAL Webzine.
Tell us a few things about CURSE OF EIBON (Members, Starting Year etc).
Curse of Eibon was born in 2020 during the modern curse we call covid-19. Four guys from Sweden found each other through metal music and the fascination of the occult! We are Fredrik on vocals and lyrics, Martin on Guitar, Mathias on bass and Anders on drums.

You have recently released your EP ''Book Of Eibon''. What is the feedback from your audience as well as from the press?
Yes, it was released in later December last year and the feedback has been very good, it seems that people really enjoy our music. Reviews have also been very good , so we are happy.

Label or DIY and why?
DIY, but we are looking for a label to call our home. DIY is easy to start with to build a foundation, but it can be hard in the long run. A label can really help to get the music out there.

Do you prefer Vinyl, Tape, CD or Digital Format and why is that?
We prefer everything! Each of the physical formats has its charm and digital is very easy and accessible.

Your music style is melodic Death Metal. Which are your main influences (Favourite Artists / Bands etc.)
Oh shit, the list can be made very very long. I think we are influenced by the Gothenburg metal sound but also acts like Arch Enemy, Pantera, Lamb of God etc etc.

Which things, do you think, a Band should sacrifice in order to succeed?
Have you ever sacrificed anything in your life for a better future of your Band?
Do you always have to make a sacrifice? I think Time is something you have to sacrifice. As you get older you don't have as much time as you might want.

Describe your ideal live show as a performance Band. Have you already experienced that?
The ideal live should would be when everyone is in top form and everything goes like planned, and when the crowd really get into your music! haha not yet!

Which attributes, do you think, that a new Death Metal Band should have in order to gain identity and be unique?
It all comes down to what you want to do! We focus on the music and theme and not so much on the say image of the members or try to be as angry as possible or be too traditional. In this day and age its hard to make something unique, better to focus on the music and what you want to create.

Do you believe that Bandcamp and other Digital Platforms help the new Death Metal Bands? Which, do you think, is the ideal way for a Band to promote its work?
To be honest both yes and no. It's hard to promote digitally, most people just click "like" and that's supporting the band? To be honest I think a lot of older fans still prefer a physical release.

Tell us a few things about the New Underground Metal Scene in Sweden (Bands, Fanzines, Webzines, Metal Clubs etc.)
Hmm.. that's a hard thing to do, not really up to date. There aren't many zines left and same with clubs sadly. There are quite a few acts of course , some really awesome.

Do you know anything about the Hellenic Metal Scene?
Don't know enough to tell you about it, but hope they will enjoy Curse of Eibon. Greece is a kick ass country!

What are your future plans?
We are planning a new release of course and hopefully we can come out and play live shows in a near future.

Thank you very much for your time & Keep up the good work! The closure is yours.
Thank you so much for having us and we really hope the Hellenic metal scene will accept our sound! We invite you to step into the world of madness and strange beings.

By Steve the Filthy Dog.
