Interview with AVLIVAD

!!!SWEDISH DEATH METAL!!!

We had a conversation with C. Enjoy!
Welcome to the FILTHY DOGS OF METAL Webzine.
Tell us a few things about AVLIVAD (Members, Starting Year etc).
We started around later 2019 or early 2020, first it was only me (C.) and JK on drums, but soon we added SE on bass. When we were about to record the demo we couldn’t find any proper singer in our area, so I asked LO from Balmog to join in too and he quickly accepted. It is a bit tricky since we live in two different countries but right now it works for us. We kind of recorded the demo ourselves and Javi from Moontower Studios in Barcelona used his magic tricks mixing it.

In 2020 you have released your demo ''Demo MMXX''. What was the Feedback from your audience as well as from the Press?
It is just a small first demo so I’d be surprised if it had a lot of followers, even if Invictus is a great label. I’m not really following every review of it but I think the feedback has been mainly positive for the kind of release it is.

Label or DIY and why?
Label, since we want to have proper recordings and play live eventually. DIY nowadays is almost like bury yourself into oblivion, especially if you don’t use Instagram and all that crap, and also requires a lot of extra work and energy you can use playing instead.

Do you prefer Vinyl, Tape, CD or Digital Format and why is that?
I personally like some things on CD, others on vinyl. Digital is cool to have in your phone and whatnot, but having some drinks while playing actual records is something else

Your music style is Death Metal. Which are your main influences (Favourite Artists / Bands etc.)
I’d say we all listen a lot of different stuff. At the time of making this songs we used to hang out after rehearsals and listen a lot of classic American thrash (Testament, Sadus, Forbidden, Megadeth, Dark Angel, Slayer, Metallica,...), also Possessed, Repulsion and harder stuff like that, and old punk and hardcore. I can’t really say we wanted to have any specific sound when we started, we just wanted to play metal as fast as we could with a bit of punkish vibe, and then all the small pieces we had took shape.

Which things, do you think, a Band should sacrifice in order to succeed? Have you ever sacrificed anything in your life for a better future of your Band?
We don’t have much stuff that can be sacrificed. Just don’t spend 3 hours a day in social media, play guitar and make some riffs instead!

Describe your ideal live show as a performance Band. Have you already experienced that?
No, it has been impossible for obvious reasons.

Which attributes, do you think, that a new Death Metal Band should have in order to gain identity and be unique?
This music has been done for like 35 years so I guess you have to make a difference by not being the copy of the copycat of some guys that tried to copy Entombed or Incantation. Death Metal to me should be fast riffs, ominous melodies and sick vocals with good, crazy songwritting.

Do you believe that Bandcamp and other Digital Platforms help the new Death Metal Bands? Which, do you think, is the ideal way for a Band to promote its work?
I’m sure in 2021, at least for bands at our level, those platforms are pretty established.

Tell us a few things about the New Underground Metal Scene in Sweden (Bands, Fanzines, Webzines, Metal Clubs etc.)
Check INITIATION from Stockholm!

Do you know anything about the Hellenic Metal Scene?
Yeah, we all like classic Greek black metal bands like Rotting Christ, Varathron, Zemial, Tatir...

What are your future plans?
Hopefully we’re gonna record the new songs we are working on soon.

Thank you very much for your time & Keep up the good work! The closure is yours.
