THOU SHALL NOT - SYNCHRONIZED ABDUCTIONS

Country: Brazil
Year: 2020
Label: Independent Release

THOU SHALL NOT hailing from Curitiba, Brazil, and ''Synchronized Abductions'' is their first full-length album (Thank you very much my necro-brother Danihell from Murder Records). The band plays heavy metal, but there is more going on here than just classic heavy metal. You can hear hard rock, blues and some darker metal influences throughout the album. The album starts with the short “Vessels” and then moves into “Scanning Souls” and “Obsolete Societies.” These tracks give you a good idea of what the band is about. The guitars are heavy but still melodic, the drums have a lot of power and the vocals move between clean singing and a more aggressive style. “Rebel Higher Level” is one of the tracks that stands out, mainly because of its riffs and different feel. “Black Sun Vortex” is another strong song, with a longer structure that gives the band more space to work with the guitars and vocals. One of the more interesting moments on the album is “Reptile Blues.” As the name suggests, there is a clear blues influence here, especially in the guitar work and solos. It is a nice change from the heavier songs and shows that the band is not afraid to bring different ideas into their music. A catchy song! Then we have “Calmness in a Minor,” a short instrumental track with classical guitar and keyboards. It works as a small break before “The Handler,” which brings the album back to a heavier sound. The production is clean and clear, with the guitars taking a big role in the overall sound. There are plenty of riffs and solos, but the album does not turn into a simple guitar showcase. The songs still come first. The only thing that might not work for everyone is the variety. The band moves between different styles quite often, and some listeners may find the album a little uneven because of that. Personally, I think it gives the record more character. If you want to know more about THOU SHALL NOT you can read a very interesting interview that we have with them HERE.''Synchronized Abductions'' is a solid heavy metal album with good guitars, strong vocals and enough different ideas to keep things interesting. It is not trying to be extreme or overly complicated. It is simply a band playing heavy music and mixing in the influences they like.
