Interview with SATAN'S VENGEANCE

Welcome to the FILTHY DOGS OF METAL Webzine.

Tell us a few things about SATAN'S VENGEANCE (Members, Starting Year etc).
At first place, we'd like to thank for the support!! Well, Satan's Vengeance is a black thrash metal Band from São Paulo, we started this blasphemies in the beginning of 2025. I'm Igor, the bassist player, Drey at the drums and Matheus at the guitar and screams.

You have recently released your EP ''taog kcalb eht fo htaO ehT''. What is the feedback from your audience as well as from the press?
Well, so far we've only received some feedback from the public, and no negative reviews or anything like that, which makes us even more determined to continue.

And what about the lyrics?
The lyrics of our songs are exactly the message we want to convey: the raw, naked reality of what religion has been doing to people’s minds! Every track becoming as heavy and explicit as possible.

Are you in searching for a record label? What do you prefer, Label or DIY and why?
Yes, our intention is for our releases to come out through labels that support our style of sound! We also find the DIY model very interesting as a way to promote the band.

Is there any funny or weird story from the recordings or from your live shows that you would like to share with us?
So far, there hasn’t been any funny or bizarre situation worth telling about, especially considering the short time Satan’s has been active on the road.

Do you prefer Vinyl, Tape, CD or Digital Format and why is that?
Matheus: I really love the physical media aspect, no matter if it’s LP, cassette tape, or CD. It’s incredible to own the physical release of your favorite band, to see every detail that was put into it (especially the cover artworks), which are insane!!! I remember when I got my first LP, Venom – Black Metal; the details and the information contained in the cover were unbelievably amazing. About the digital format, I think it’s cool because of the accessibility it provides, it’s much easier to discover bands and share them so more people can get to know them. However, ONLY PHYSICAL MEDIA IS REAL!

Your music style is Black/Thrash Metal. Which are your main influences (Favourite Artists / Bands etc.)
There are many inspirations for each of us, but the main ones are certainly Bathory and Celtic Frost first, Sabbat, Darkthrone, Destruction, Slayer. And certainly our national treasures, Vulcano, Sarcófago, Sepultura, our great friends from Açoite and Flageladör, Velho and Necrogosto.

Which things do you think a band should sacrifice in order to succeed? Have you ever sacrificed anything in your life for a better future for your band?
We've all sacrificed time, money and job too; not only for Satan's Vengeance but for our side projects as well. We aim for success and greatness, but also for someone who is a true headbanger, just like us, to enjoy our band.

Describe your ideal live show as a performance band. Have you already experienced that?
Not yet, but we want it to be as aggressive and violent as possible; our music doesn't work well with calmer elements!

What do you think about the rise of AI in music production?
We are totally against any kind of AI use in music, flyers, or anything related to music in any artistic format.

What attributes do you think that a new Black/Thrash Metal Band should have in order to gain identity and be unique?
Lack of authenticity, attitude, and ideology!! Nowadays it's difficult to find a Black/Thrash band that sounds as unique as in the beginning, like Necrodeath and Absu, for example, authentic and unique bands that weren't just more of the same.

Do you believe that Digital Platforms help the new Black/Thrash Metal Bands? Which, do you think, is the ideal way for a band to promote its work?
Hey, Matheus here! Of course, digital platforms help a lot in giving the band’s material great visibility, especially nowadays when we can easily access material from bands that are extremely far away! That’s really insane! Of course, always promoting things in a proper and coherent way. But beyond the digital side, it’s also important to do physical promotion because that grabs attention too. For example, I personally love physical media from underground bands.

From your experience in the music industry, what would you tell to a new Black/Thrash Metal band to avoid or what to do?
Avoid trends, don’t be a band with bad and stupid ideas, and don’t make “funny” videos just to get views and likes. That will not make your band good, it will only make it a band with idiot members who just want attention. Many bands gain real fans without needing to do stupid bullshit.

Tell us a few things about the New Underground Metal Scene in Sao Paulo, Brazil (Bands, Fanzines, Webzines, Metal Clubs etc.)
We have so many places to see local shows, in the passage of the years some places just "passed away" but other places still alive like Fofinho rockbar(resistence of decades), some rockbars like Sodom Bar and Metal Bar just to get crazy (YEAH!!), and great houses and clubs like Carioca Club, Hangar 110...anyway, some zines like "Totalmayhem" , "união headbanger" have great interviews with true underground metal bands and the Reinaldo's "webzine" Na Lamina da Foice.

What does Metal means to you? And give us 10 metal albums that run in your veins.
Metal to us is more than a lifestyle; there is an incredible movement that we truly love being part of, keeping alive the legacy that all the bands built since the very beginning. We chose the main influences in our lives, of course there are many other bands that shaped us that didn’t make the list, but we love them as well.

Bathory – Blood Fire Death
Vulcano – Bloody Vengeance
Bulldozer – The Day of Wrath
Venom – Black Metal
Kreator – Pleasure to Kill
Mercyful Fate – Don’t Break the Oath
Iron Maiden – Iron Maiden
Entombed – Left Hand Path
Sarcófago – I.N.R.I.
Sepultura – Schizophrenia

Do you know anything about the Hellenic Metal Scene?
Greece greatly influences our sound; we come heavily from Rotting Christ and Zemial, but we also have many sonic and visual influences from Omega, Varathron, Ravencult, Nergal, and Necromantia, of course! You have a surreal and authentic sound!

What are your future plans?
Our plans for the future are to start recording our full-length album containing 10 insane tracks to show that the true flame of Black Metal is still alive and will always live on in Brazil, and of course to play shows both inside and outside our country.

Thank you very much for your time & keep up the good work!
