Interview with NIGRIDO

Welcome to the FILTHY DOGS OF METAL Webzine.

Tell us a few things about NIGRIDO (Members, Starting Year etc).
We are a Death Sludge duo from Coquimbo, Chile, formed in 2025. NIGRIDO features X.S on strings and K.lle on drums, with both of us sharing vocal duties. Our goal is to create a raw, intense sound that channels our most visceral influences.

You have recently released your demo ''Putrefaction: Part I''. What is the feedback from your audience as well as from the press?
We released this demo on November 7, 2025. It’s a record driven by passion and a raw, visceral energy that defines our sound. Those who have seen us live pick up on it immediately, and the response has been strong and positive. Listeners have especially highlighted our approach to songwriting and the interplay between our vocals: X.S brings a darker edge, with black metal influenced riffs and vocal style, while K.lle adds a driving rhythmic backbone and crust punk–inspired vocals. The written feedback has been equally encouraging. We’re truly grateful to everyone who took the time to listen and connect with this first statement from the band.

And what about the lyrics?
In developing our lyrics, we draw on introspective tools to channel the emotions that arise from our bond, incorporating influences from alchemical traditions—something we both deeply connect with. Through these processes, we shape a set of ideas that define our expression. In this first act, we explore the opening stage of the Great Work: Nigredo.

Are you in searching for a record label? What do you prefer, Label or DIY and why?
We’re currently looking for a label, as we have upcoming releases in the works. We’re finishing our second demo and will then move on to what will become our first full-length LP. When it comes to working with a label or staying DIY, we see real value in both. A label can significantly expand our reach, while the independent route lets us stay hands-on and in control of every step. Our first demo was fully crafted by us.

Is there any funny or weird story from the recordings or from your live shows that you would like to share with us?
Nothing particularly bizarre so far. The closest thing to a story happened during recording, when we both got seriously sick. Even so, we didn’t stop. No one was pushing us, but we were so driven to finish the record that we kept going relentlessly. That mix of fever and excitement makes the whole experience feel almost like a delirium in retrospect.

Do you prefer Vinyl, Tape, CD or Digital Format and why is that?
We believe every format has its own kind of magic: tape carries a more underground spirit; CD feels classic and accessible; and vinyl stands as a kind of badge of honor. Meanwhile, digital formats are a key tool for reaching a wider audience.

Which are your main influences (Favourite Artists / Bands etc.)
X.S: I grew up under the shadow of black metal and the intensity of South American metal. The guitars of Infernus and Euronymous sparked a deep connection to darkness in me. Bands like Motörhead and Bathory were foundational pillars in my development. I enjoy metal in all its forms, but some of my favorites include Urfaust, Dissection, Impaled Nazarene, Nocternity, Blasphemy, George Thorogood, and Slayer.

K.lle: I move between two main currents: crust—drawing from A lo bonzo, Dystopia, and Nausea—and hardcore punk, with influences like Fun People, Napalm Death, and Manhunt. That’s where everything begins: drums and vocals. I’m drawn to rhythms that drive the mosh and headbanging, while still feeling dark and heavy, with punishing blast beats.

Which things do you think a band should sacrifice in order to succeed? Have you ever sacrificed anything in your life for a better future for your band?
Yes, sacrifice is an essential part of this path. Much of it comes down to time—music demands it constantly, even when we’re not actively creating or rehearsing. It’s a commitment that runs through everything. That said, with strong organization and discipline, it’s possible to keep these projects moving forward. In our case, that’s especially important, as we’re also involved in other musical projects beyond NIGRIDO.

Describe your ideal live show as a performance band. Have you already experienced that?
We aim to create dense atmospheres: heavy smoke, dark lighting, and strong sound quality with proper monitoring to fully immerse the experience. We haven’t fully reached that ideal yet, but we’re actively refining and shaping our live show.

What do you think about the rise of AI in music production?
It’s unsettling. It can be a useful tool, but when you listen to it, it feels soulless.

From your experience in the music industry, what would you tell to a new Heavy Metal band to avoid or what to do?
Avoid ego, stay disciplined, and keep the focus on music as the main priority. And above all, never forget to enjoy rock. It’s up to us to keep the flame of damn metal burning, shining in the darkness of the underground.

Tell us a few things about the New Underground Metal Scene in Chile (Bands, Fanzines, Webzines, Metal Clubs etc.)
Honestly, it’s brutal. There are some incredible bandsemerging; even though a lot of metal has already been written, it’s still surprising to find new compositions that respect the classic sound while bringing something fresh. As for the scene, it’s great to see its motivation and organization. As recommendations, I’d suggest checking out the latest black metal release from DE SOLACION with their LP “ELKI”, in power violence DISPARA -, and in death doom PENDULVM with the LP “SUSURROS ESPECTRALES”.

What does Metal means to you? And give us 10 metal albums that run in your veins.
Metal is practically our life. We have many fascinations and passions, but without a doubt it’s where we’ve invested most of our time.
1.- HELL AWAITS – SLAYER
2.- ANTICHRIST – GORGOROTH
3.- DEICIDE - DEICIDE
4.- BENEATH THE REMAINS – SEPULTURA
5.- DE MYSTERIIS DOM SATHANAS – MAYHEM
6.- CONVICTED - CRYPTIC SLAUGHTER
7.- KARISMA – SABBAT
8.- WORLD DOWNFALL – TERRORIZER
9.- STRIDŽIE DNI – MALOKARPATAN
10.- SLOWLY WE ROT – OBITUARY
Special mention to TOTTEN KORPS - THE KING OF HELL RECLAIMS HIS THRONE, ATOMIC AGGRESSOR – BLOODY CEREMONIAL, y PENTAGRAM CHILE.

Do you know anything about the Hellenic Metal Scene?
Greek metal has a distinct and deeply unique sound. When you listen to music from your homeland, you can sense an almost ancestral power embedded in the compositions that sets it apart from other scenes. Varathron, Rotting Christ, and Necromantia are essential, historic names in this style. Personally, I would also highlight the entire discography of Nocternity.

What are your future plans?
Release our second demo, put out our first LP, and see where rock takes us. We hope one day travel and perform in Hellenic lands.

Thank you very much for your time & keep up the good work! The closure is yours.
Thank you for your interest, your support, and for giving us this space for our music. Work hard for your dreams, never stop chasing them, and learn to enjoy the detours along the way.
