Interview with MOREFECTED

!!!DEATH METAL FROM INDONESIA!!!

Welcome to the FILTHY DOGS OF METAL Webzine.

Tell us a few things about MOREFECTED (Members, Starting Year etc).
MOREFECTED was formed in the scorching heat of Indonesia in 2019. We’re driven by anger, bad luck, and the bitter truth of living in a chaotic and super corrupt country. Our lineup:
rzqmlnxndvkhwlmdn (drums & vocals)
Deathskvll (guitar/bass)
Trashkvlt (second guitar).
We exist to express our dark side through the filth of death metal.

You have recently released your demo ''Demo 2025''. What is the feedback from your audience as well as from the press?
So far, the response has been brutal, and we mean that as a compliment. The local scene welcomed it with raised fists, and a few underground zines called it a promising start to rotten death metal. This is just the beginning.

Label or DIY and why?
We did this demo DIY. But we’re not against labels, we’re open to working together. We’d love to collaborate with a label to create a bigger explosion.

Is there any funny or weird story from the recordings or from your live shows that you would like to share with us?
During the demo recording, we almost didn’t make it, too many problems. One of the dumbest was someone getting way too drunk during a take, haha. Money was also a problem, but we pushed through ‘til it was done.

Do you prefer Vinyl, Tape, CD or Digital Format and why is that?
We actually prefer CDs, they’re more memorable and collectible. But yeah, digital is easier to access and can be enjoyed by anyone, anytime, anywhere.

Your music style is Death Metal. Which are your main influences (Favourite Artists / Bands etc.)
So many! We’re inspired by legends like Morbid Angel, Deeds of Flesh, and Deicide, also newer bands like Gatecreeper and Undeath. From Indonesia, Amorphous, Tobrut and Keringat Darah have had a big impact on us. You gotta check them out!

Which things do you think a band should sacrifice in order to succeed? Have you ever sacrificed anything in your life for a better future for your band?
Time, money, mental stability, and a bunch of other things. Metal demands total commitment. We all agree: big things need sacrifice.

Describe your ideal live show as a performance band. Have you already experienced that?
Wild venue, lots of booze, a crazy crowd, and circle pits like it’s the end of the world, haha. Yeah, we’ve felt that kind of energy before.

What attributes do you think that a new Death Metal Band should have in order to gain identity and be unique?
Don’t be a copycat. Channel what you see, feel, and live. Originality matters more than imitation. The world doesn’t need another clone, it needs your purest horror.

Do you believe that Digital Platforms help the new Death Metal Bands? Which, do you think, is the ideal way for a band to promote its work?
Digital platforms help a lot, if you use them right. They break borders and connect scenes. But still, nothing beats real interaction: gigs, zines, and real communication. Combine both.

Do you see any differences between the Indonesian Metal Market & the EU Metal Market (Labels, Bands, Fans etc)?
Definitely. Europe is more structured, with strong label support. Indonesia is wild, passionate, and chaotic, but out of that chaos comes loyal fans and unique music.

Tell us a few things about the New Underground Metal Scene in Indonesia (Bands, Fanzines, Webzines, Metal Clubs etc.)
New bands are rising fast with aggressive sounds. DIY fanzines, small gigs, and local crews keep the fire burning. It’s raw, wild, and real.

Do you know anything about the Hellenic Metal Scene?
Hell yes! We have mad respect for it. The atmosphere and dark melodies from bands like Rotting Christ and Varathron are unforgettable. Greek black/death metal has a special horror touch that stands out.

What are your future plans?
We’re working on the next release, harder, darker, filthier, and even more chaotic. We hope more people can enjoy (or survive) it.

Thank you very much for your time & keep up the good work! The closure is yours.
Thanks for the opportunity. Stay loud, stay brutal, and always be yourself when it comes to creating and expressing.

By Steve the Filthy Dog.
