Interview with MEAN MACHINE

!!!LARGA VIDA AL ROCK AND ROLL!!!

We had a conversation with Raul Mesa (Bass/Vocals).Enjoy!

Welcome to the FILTHY DOGS OF METAL Webzine.
1. Tell us a few things about MEAN MACHINE (Members, Starting Year etc).

The band is active since 2010. We are actually the same 3 members than there. The band is actually the first project of all the guys and also mine (Raul), so we can say we were virgins before that haha.Since there we have released a Demo, an EP and 3 LP.

2. In 2019 you have released your album ''Rock 'n' Roll Up Your Ass''. What was the feedback from your audience as well as from the press?
The audience feedback have been great, as always. In the end people know what they're gonna find on our records. Press and media well, all kind of opinions, but we rather to focus on the the live audience that in the end go to the concerts.3. Label or DIY and why?
Label, just because there a lot of burocratic stuff and promotion that actually is needed to distribute our records. We have the luck to be with labels that are great people that works on this from their hearts, so they do a great job promoting and distributing our stuff.

4. Do you prefer Vinyl, Tape, CD or Digital Format and why is that?
Nowadays Vinyl and Tape are very fancy formats rather than CD, but we love all of them as long people uses to listen to us haha. In fact, me (Raul) I like to buy CD, for me is the HQ format, but we respect all of ways to listen to music, so let's enjoy that.

5. Your music style is Heavy/Speed Metal. Which are your main influences (Favourite Artists / Bands etc.)
We are not much into tags, so hea have listened people says we do this or we do dat, so we don't pay attention. We can say our influences go from Motorhead (of course), until Rose Tattoo. We love Zeke, Inepsy, Tankard, Nashville Pussy, AC/DC, Peter Pan Speedrock, Puffball, and a bunch of nasty dirty fast bands into RnR and MetalPunk. But over all of this bands there is a main influence for the guys and I: Party, always party and been drunk, that makes it funnier.6. Which things, do you think, a Band should sacrifice in order to succeed? Have you ever sacrificed anything in your life for a better future of your Band?
We have "sacrificed" money, a lot of money haha But I think any band that have played for a while can say. But we don't like to say "sacrifice" something, cause we don't regret any of the things we haven't done because of the band.

7. Describe your ideal live show as a performance Band. Have you already experienced that?
Been drunk, loud as hell and with the audience getting drunk and dancing around. We bring some bottles of Bourbon to our gigs to share them with our thirsty audience so we all can enjoy the show more than been sober.

8. Which attributes, do you think, that a new Heavy Metal Band should have in order to gain identity and be unique?
I think we are nobody to tell anybody to do "something special" to have personality. Just stay humble and do your stuff the best you can over and over the years and go through the everyday shit you'll have to pull up with.

9. Do you believe that Bandcamp and other Digital Platforms help the new Heavy Metal Bands? Which, do you think, is the ideal way for a Band to promote its work?
Well, Bandcamp is a platform that helps a band, that's for sure. Maybe there are too much bands to listen to and that harm good band of been among shit stuff, maybe. The best way to promote is to have contacts, prediod. Move and move your stuff, send free records to labels, promotion, agencies, and give people easy ways to listen your music.

10. Tell us a few things about the New Underground Metal Scene in Spain (Bands, Fanzines, Webzines, Metal Clubs etc.)
Here in Spain we have some good friends on Fanzines and Webzines, concert promoters, clubs and of course bands. All along this 10 years (at the beginning we didn't knew anybody). we have made a ot of friends that have helped the band in one or another way, so that makes you see that if you keep on playing and moving you can resist. In my personal opinion, all that people from concert promotions, webzines and fanzine, have something like a band, so they have to work everyday on it to get known and progress on this "RnR" world, so as long we can also help them , we'll do it.11. Do you know anything about the Hellenic Metal Scene?
We have a couple of friends there. In fact due to Chainsaw Distro we could release our first record on tape, so we are thankful of that. We also know the guys from Boneyard that make a lot of noise, so we love that haha.We are not much into look where the bands o zines are from, we just enjoy them.

12. What are your future plans?
Keep playing and moving around. We are working on playing in Europe (hopefully also Greece) and creating new stuff. You know, we are a RnR band, we just know to do that kind of things.

13. Thank you very much for your time & Keep up the good work! The closure is yours.
Thanks a lot to you guys, he wish you all the success to the future! Hope to have a beers together.
