Interview with FEITICO OCULTO

Welcome to the FILTHY DOGS OF METAL Webzine.

Tell us a few things about FEITICO OCULTO (Members, Starting Year etc).
Feitiço Oculto started with a group of friends in the city of Osasco in 2019. We have always attended several shows in the Brazilian underground for years, but we felt the need to add a little more to Metal, so we formed the band. Our main idea has always been to point out in our lyrics the problems faced by the poorest population in our country and somehow try to expose social problems that all Brazilians already know but the vast majority turn a blind eye to.

You have recently released your EP ''Condenados da Terra''. What is the feedback from your audience as well as from the press?
It's been fantastic, in a few days after the launch it already received a lot of positive feedback in Brazil, but what surprised us was to know that our song, even sung in Portuguese, reached other countries, that's incredible.

Label or DIY and why?
It's a difficult question, but I think it must be a mixture of the two, because a band must have the initiative to make things happen, but there are record companies in the underground that also live off the production of material for Underground bands. So for the underground to remain alive, there must always be cooperation from both parties.

Do you prefer Vinyl, Tape, CD or Digital Format and why is that?
Always Physical Material!!! There is nothing more magical than listening to a Vinyl holding the cover, enjoying the cover art and following the lyrics in the booklet. Digital media have a good role in the dissemination part and that is why it is important, I know that younger people today consume much more digital media and unfortunately that is the future, but the physical will never die as long as there are true MetalHeads!

Your music style is Black/Speed Metal. Which are your main influences (Favourite Artists / Bands etc.)
We have many influences, I'll name a few, Vulcano, Mystifier, Taurus, Dorsal Atlântica, Hellhammer, Bathory, Sodom, Destruction, Necronomicon, Vectom, Deathrow, Atomkraft, Bulldozer, Mortuary Drape, Slayer, Iron Angel among others..

Which things do you think a Band should sacrifice in order to succeed? Have you ever sacrificed anything in your life for a better future for your Band?
I believe that the greatest difficulty for underground musicians in Brazil is the financial issue, in our country everything related to musical instruments is very expensive, we also have to reconcile band time with family, girlfriends and wives, so being an underground musician is always demanding.

Describe your ideal live show as a performance Band. Have you already experienced that?
The band has to transmit its energy through the music, the visual aspect is also important, but realizing that the audience is enjoying their music is something very rewarding.

Which attributes, do you think, that a new Black/Speed Metal Band should have in order to gain identity and be unique?
The band must seek its own identity in its songs, have an attitude and always play with fury, to make the maximum number of people aware of its music.

Do you believe that Digital Platforms help the new Black/Speed Metal Bands? Which, do you think, is the ideal way for a Band to promote its work?
Yea! Digital platforms make it possible for our music to be heard by any headbanger in the world very easily.

Tell us a few things about the New Underground Metal Scene in Brazil (Bands, Fanzines, Webzines, Metal Clubs etc.)
The scene in Brazil is gigantic, there are several bands from practically all aspects of Metal, new incredible bands appear every day. Currently there are many underground bands that are worth listening to, I will name a few, Primitive, Velho, Flageladör, Apokalyptic Raids, Antroforce, Alcool, Vultör, Krushhammer, Grave Desecrator, Funebrö, Gravedäncer, Sanguinario, Speedkiller, Morcrof, Hecate and many others.

Do you know anything about the Hellenic Metal Scene?
We love the Hellenic Black Metal bands they have a unique flavor, Thou Art Lord, Varathron, Astarte, Rotting Christ and Necromantia. We also enjoy other aspects of Hellenic metal, we really like the band Douglas, Macedon Harriers, Spitfire, Thanatos Inc and Omega.

What are your future plans?
We have plans to release a music video and release the EP “Condenados da Terra” physically through the Rocketz Records label later this year. For the beginning of 2023, our plan is to release the EP and start the composition process for the release of a full album in the second half of 2023.

Thank you very much for your time & Keep up the good work! The closure is yours.
Thanks for the space, it's Webzines like this one that keep the Underground strong and more alive than ever. Thanks to everyone involved in this beautiful project that is Filthy Dog of Metal!!!
