Interview with DEATHSLAUGHTER

!!!OCCULT METAL FROM BRAZIL!!!

We had a conversation with Demönlust. Enjoy!

Welcome to the FILTHY DOGS OF METAL Webzine.

Tell us a few things about DEATHSLAUGHTER (Members, Starting Year etc).
DeathSlaüghter started in 2016, I, Demönlust is the only member, everyone else is guest. Two different line-ups record the albums. (Eviltyrant and Left-hand Pathfinder) and the last album (Rudimentary Light and Truesodomizer).

You have recently released your album ''Passing Through the Valley of the Sodomites''. What is the feedback from your audience as well as from the press?
From the audience I got a perfect feedback, everybody love how mixed and unique the album is towards other black metal scene perspectives. Unfortunately I only received few press reviews, perhaps with the CD and Tape release they will notice it properly.

Label or DIY and why?
DeathSlaüghter always prefers label, since the day 0 we have a good relationship with Gil from Cianeto Label. Also I got some friends that released in tape and CD, and one vinyl release from the previous album The Last Great War of Humanity in 2021.

Do you prefer Vinyl, Tape, CD or Digital Format and why is that?
All formats, but they should be together, if only releases CD, we still gonna need every other format. (Vinyl/Tape/Digital). "I'm trying very hard to release in those other formats, contacting with labels around the world".

Your music style is Black Metal. Which are your main influences (Favourite Artists / Bands etc.)
I don't use artists, but scenes. (USA/Czech/Greek/Italian/Brazilian) are my favorites. But I still carry Heavy/Thrash and punk influences.

Which things, do you think, a Band should sacrifice in order to succeed? Have you ever sacrificed anything in your life for a better future of your Band?
A bound should sacrifice your time to practice and find labels to release their materials. I took a lot of time and practice new instruments to my bands (been practicing drums for two years now) and I don't want lazy people in my bands, they won't allow you to succeed.

Describe your ideal live show as a performance Band. Have you already experienced that?
Yes, We turn out the lights and lit candles to make a good ambience, unfortunately our last concert were in 2017. I miss the stage, but I also need good musicians to grow in the band as team.

Which attributes, do you think, that a new Black Metal Band should have in order to gain identity and be unique?
The band must record properly, not in some laptop plug in, work hard to spend in a good Studio with good equipments. Black metal deserves it, not some Flat mixes full of fake amps and shitty pre-sets.

Do you believe that Digital Platforms help the new Black Metal Bands? Which, do you think, is the ideal way for a Band to promote its work?
Yes and no, Of course it helps to expand the knowledge about the style, but I miss the tape trade, I've sent about 200 tapes worldwide in the last year, unfortunately, my country can't allow that anymore with an affordable price. Forgotten Wisdom Productions (France) recorded a video about that. Tape trade is true, it's not the same feeling get a link instead a handwritten letter.

Tell us a few things about the New Underground Metal Scene in Brazil (Bands, Fanzines, Webzines, Metal Clubs etc.)
First, I recommend my other band (Crimson Tower) already
interviewed in the channel. And the same bands previously, my friend from Filhos da Besta, great band. All others topics (Zine, webzines, metal clubs). You can check in the other interview.

Do you know anything about the Hellenic Metal Scene
Passing through the valley of the sodomites inz 99% inspired by Greek black metal. (Rotting Christ/Varathron/Necromantia/Zemial/Agatus/Thou Art Lord). You can hear from the very first note till the last.

What are your future plans?
I have some recorded songs, but I don't know where to release it, I'm looking for labels, if anyone is interested. After that, focus on Crimson Tower or maybe start a new band.

Thank you very much for your time & Keep up the good work! The closure is yours
It's hard to maintain a band alone after the COVID pandemic and the recently vinyl factory/oil crisis. Specifically, in third world countries. So, even without properly physical release in the moment, support buying digital or helping me by sending my material to a friendly label, the energy that came from the fans is Real. And remember, Only Death is real.
