Tell us a few things about ABYSSMIC (Members, Starting Year etc).
Well, Abyssmic was founded two years ago by Soul Collector and Coragyps Atratus.
You have recently released your EP ''Passage Through the Mind''. What is the feedback from your audience as well as from the press?
First of all "Passage Through The Mind" is our first Demo tape, we don't have feedback yet, the demo was release a couple of weeks ago, but we think if you are a death metal fan for sure you'll open a beer, light the pipe and headband as a maniac.
Label or DIY and why?
Tiempo Oscuro Records is DIY label. This is the second release. The first one was Decrepitud S/T (black metal band). If you don't do it no one will !!!!
Is there any funny or weird story from the recordings or from your live shows that you would like to share with us?
Make music always is weird and fun, we recorded this tracks in a studio situated on the mountains, perfect place to get wasted after doing the job !!
Do you prefer Vinyl, Tape, CD or Digital Format and why is that?
We think all formats have their own things. As true music maniacs there is nothing more exciting than receiving music in some format. And digital format has the ability to bring music to fucking all!!! And that is great too.
Your music style is Death Metal. Which are your main influences (Favourite Artists / Bands etc.)
Uff it's difficult to answer, there are some many, but classics are still classics. Please refer to the old ones by Hypocrisy, Obituary, Bolt Thrower, Gorefest, Sinister, Deicide, Death, Sentenced, Konkhra, mmmm the list will be huge!!!
Which things do you think a band should sacrifice in order to succeed? Have you ever sacrificed anything in your life for a better future for your band?
To Create you have to Sacrifice !!! Nothing is easy in this life !! Don't be a Fucking pussy !!
Describe your ideal live show as a performance band. Have you already experienced that?
The ideal is when the crowd feels the energy and the power we generate !! Connection...
What attributes do you think that a new Death Metal Band should have in order to gain identity and be unique?
We think to be unique you have to embrace and observe the "Death metal" of this world, When we say death metal, what we mean the putrid shit that humans of this "Planet" do!!. And if you can capture that in music that has brutality, speed, weight and darkness. I think you'll be on the right track.
Do you believe that Digital Platforms help the new Death Metal Bands? Which, do you think, is the ideal way for a band to promote its work?
Absolutely, Bandcamp is Awesome.
Do you see any differences between the Chilean Metal Market & the EU Metal Market (Labels, Bands, Fans etc)?
Uff A lot, Chile has 20 million populutation and has a spectacular audience, studies from streaming platforms says that in Chile there are 113 metal bands per 1 million people approximated. But the metal market in Chile is still low. If You have 1% of chile's pupulation you can estimate near 200.000 metal fans versus 3.41 millions of "USA metal Fans" considering the same percentage. And other economical factors are importan too ,for example for an American 20 dollars represent 90 dollars to a average chilean due the minimum wage is 500 Dollars, so you can imagine what it's like for us to buy a Vinyl record.
Tell us a few things about the New Underground Metal Scene in Chile (Bands, Fanzines, Webzines, Metal Clubs etc.)
There are so many great bands here, old and new, every weekend theres an underground gig but there are not so many places to play. Chile has a tremendous audience of metal fans but as our country is so long and narrow, many are scattered in very distant parts of it, and travelling for one gig its not convinient. Also there's a huge amount of labels, fanzines and stores, distribution of music is not an issue.
Do you know anything about the Hellenic Metal Scene?
Of course, we grew up listening to Rotting Christ for the most part, also we enjoy RavenCult, Acherontas, Varathron, Necromantia and Septic Flesh.
What are your future plans?
Right now, we are working in some new material for our first LP.
