!!!DEATH BLACK METAL FROM PERU!!!
Welcome to the FILTHY DOGS OF METAL Webzine.
Tell us a few things about RITO PROFANATORIO (members, starting year, etc.).
RITO PROFANATORIO currently consists of Arturo Bullhammer on drums, Milo Possessor on vocals and supporting guitars, and myself, Jorge Exterminio, on bass and backing vocals. The band was formed around 2011, and after several lineup changes, it finally solidified with this trio.
In 2024 you released the split EP “Sabbatical Rites into the Pentagram” with the mighty Japanese metal warriors SABBAT. What was the feedback from your audience and the press?
The reception was excellent. This album was made to commemorate SABBAT’s 40th anniversary, and it became highly sought-after among collectors and followers of extreme metal worldwide.

What do you prefer: Label or DIY, and why?
We usually prefer to work with labels that produce our material. That way, we can evaluate whether our work truly resonates with other producers. For us, that’s a measure of direction — it shows whether we’re walking the right path in sound, influence, and essence.
Is there any funny or weird story from the recordings or live shows you’d like to share with us?
There are always strange things happening when we record: power outages, missing takes, or even mysterious noises appearing in the background. It’s happened so many times that we’ve learned to see it as part of the ritual — as if some hidden presence awakens when we summon the sound.
Do you prefer Vinyl, Tape, CD, or Digital format, and why?
Each format has its charm, but our hearts belong to the analog realm. Vinyl and tape are, without question, our favorite formats — the most ritualistic and tangible way to experience metal.
Your music style is Death/Black Metal. What are your main influences (favorite artists or bands, etc.)?
Our strongest influences come from the South American 80s metal scene: EXPULSER, HOLOCAUSTO, SARCOFAGO, MYSTIFIER from Brazil; PENTAGRAM, SADISM, ATOMIC AGGRESSOR from Chile; and from our homeland Peru, the eternal influences: MORTEM, HADEZ, and KRANIUM.

What do you think a band must sacrifice to succeed? Have you sacrificed anything in your life for the band’s future?
During these 15 years, we’ve had to sacrifice a lot to keep the flame alive. Often, those sacrifices weigh heavily on our families and personal lives, but we persist — because this is not a hobby, it’s a lifelong devotion.
Describe your ideal live show as a performance band. Have you experienced that already?
When we supported DESTROYER 666, it was an unforgettable experience. We also opened for DEATHYELL, and both shows could be described as moments of pure chaos and glory, where energy and darkness merged into one ritual.
What do you think about the rise of AI in music production?
A total disaster. Artificial Intelligence is destroying the world, draining art of its human spirit and replacing passion with soulless algorithms.
What attributes should a new Metal band have to forge its identity and be unique?
Persistence and sacrifice — those are the keys that allow a band to remain true to itself and endure through time and adversity.

Do you believe that digital platforms help new Metal bands? What do you think is the best way for a band to promote its work?
Digital platforms do help a lot, especially in promotion and global reach. However, many of us still carry the nostalgia of physical formats, and for us, those will always be the ones that keep the true metal spirit alive.
From your experience in the music industry, what would you tell a new band to avoid — or to do?
Never follow trends or sell out to commercial movements. Some bands chase fame or money and end up losing their purity and underground essence. Stay true — that’s the only way to endure.
Tell us a few things about the new Underground Metal Scene in Peru (bands, fanzines, webzines, clubs, etc.).
There are great new bands emerging: SACRIFICYIO, PHALARYS, IMPOSTOR, among others. They are still rising, but I’m certain they have a promising future in the Peruvian underground metal scene.
What does Metal mean to you? Give us 10 Metal albums that run through your veins.

Do you know anything about the Hellenic Metal Scene?
Of course. VARATHRON, ROTTING CHRIST, and NECROMANTIA are legendary names, and within the true underground, I deeply admire ZEMIAL, KAWIR, and the newer CULT OF EIBON. The Greek scene has always carried a mystical and pagan aura that we greatly respect.
What are your future plans?
Our immediate goal is to finish the third album by the end of November, and to continue working on several split releases already scheduled for this year and next.
Thank you very much for your time — the closure is yours.
Thank you for the interview. Greetings to all your readers — stay insane, raise your left hand high in honor of eternal sacrilege, and remain vigilant… for RITO PROFANATORIO will strike again!
