Interview with METAL CRUCIFIER

!!!SPEED METAL FROM PERU!!!

We had a conversation with Walter Crucifier (Guitar).Enjoy!

Welcome to the FILTHY DOGS OF METAL Webzine.

Greetings to you Stavros and to the fans of Filthy Dogs!

Tell us a few things about METAL CRUCIFIER (Members, Starting Year etc).

Well, Metal Crucifier has been in existence for 6 years and we have shared the stage with important bands from our country and worldwide. The current line up is Renato Bar on drums, Kike Ilave on bass, El Juli Brendal on vocals, José Delion on guitar and myself on guitars too. I always wanted to have a traditional heavy metal band and the idea came to me along with Kike Ilave after seeing live to the legendary Metalucifer show in Lima.Your last work was the demo ''The First Nails...''. Have you prepared anything new since then?

Yeah! I am currently working on the pre-production of the new album, we already have 8 songs ready to record. Additionally I want to announce that we are about to release a promotional song called Nightmare which the artwork is currently being worked on.

Label or DIY and why?

I prefer to work with a label, Thrashirts productions worked with us on the first album and before that the Demo tape was released by Austral Holocaust. But for this new album I'm still not sure which label we'll release it with.Do you prefer Vinyl, Tape, CD or Digital Format and why is that?

I actually prefer all the formats you mentioned before. However, the vinyl has to me more feeling and a classic vibe. I hope to release the first album in that format very soon.

Your music style is Heavy/Speed Metal. Which are your main influences (Favourite Artists / Bands etc.)

I have many bands that have influenced me such as Tyrant, Running Wild, Exciter, Raven, Judas Priest, Metalucifer and other similar bands.

Which things, do you think, a Band should sacrifice in order to succeed? Have you ever sacrificed anything in your life for a better future of your Band?

The only thing I would sacrifice would be a Christian! haha, it's a joke. Playing metal is not a sacrifice, on the contrary, it is part of our life and a way of being and it will be like this until I die !!!

Describe your ideal live show as a performance Band. Have you already experienced that?

We have had several important concerts but I think the one I remember and enjoyed the most were at the LIMA METAL FEST where I did double duty, with Metal Crucifier and my other band called Necropsya, also our live debut with Picture and Grim Reaper and the concert opening the show to Metalucifer. They were really overwhelming concerts!Which attributes, do you think, that a new Heavy Metal Band should have in order to gain identity and be unique?

I believe that you should not only play well but also perform aggressive and in a destructive way at the shows! Music is not only to be heard, it has to be seen in my opinion!

Do you believe that Bandcamp and other Digital Platforms help the new Metal Bands? Which, do you think, is the ideal way for a Band to promote its work?

I have not been a big fan of digital platforms. However, I think that now it is quite a necessary evil for our music to be heard and recognized. But without a doubt nothing compares to having a physical format, it is quite a ritual like when you open the wrapper and feel the aroma of the new booklet and you can see the photos and the lyrics. That feeling is irreplaceable!Tell us a few things about the New Underground Metal Scene in Peru (Bands, Fanzines, Webzines, Metal Clubs etc.)

Well there are a lot of good bands in the underground metal scene, some are not as new as Profaner, Evil Spectrum etc. In relation to Zines I follow a few good ones like SoulGrinder Zine by Paul Caravasi, he's Peruvian who actually lives in USA and Crypts of eternity from Peru run by Ricardo Lucas. In relation to metal venues, there is not too many., and there is only one metal bar called Crypto which I used to go many years ago. Full beer and Metal.

Do you know anything about the Hellenic Metal Scene?

Sure I'm aware of that, I'm a big fan of Rotting Christ and The Crucifier. What are your future plans?

Well, as I told you, we are working on the pre-production of the second album of which we will release as a promotional single. Additionally, we will make a video clip, we're only waiting for COVID19 to end, although, we just have to wait until this mess is gone.

Thank you very much for your time & Keep up the good work! The closure is yours.

I want to thank you for this interview that definitely will help us spread our music in your country and in other countries as well. Stay metal!

By Steve the Filthy Dog.
