Welcome to the FILTHY DOGS OF METAL Webzine.
Tell us a few things about LUCIFUGO (Members, Starting Year etc).
LUCIFUGO emerged from the cold, abyssal mountains of Pasto, Colombia, in 2022. The project was born out of a visceral need to channel the darkness, spiritual decay, and occult devotion that permeates our surroundings. We are not just a band; we are a ritualistic manifestation of the rebellious spirit. The cult is currently comprised of:
Sebastian Serpent: Guitars and Vocals (the creative architect behind the compositions and lyrical darkness).
Andrés Aristizábal: Bass and Backing Vocals (providing the crushing low-end frequencies).
Daniel Fajardo: Drums and Backing Vocals (the relentless percussive force).
Since our inception, our goal has been to blend the raw aggression of Black/Death Metal with the suffocating atmosphere of Dark Ambient. After a period of intense creation and esoteric focus, we have finally unleashed our self-titled debut album this January 2026, marking the definitive arrival of LUCIFUGO in the underground scene.
You have recently released your debut album ''Lucifugo''. What is the feedback from your audience as well as from the press?
The album was officially unleashed on January 9th, and the feedback has been phenomenal. Locally and nationally in Colombia, the reception was immediate and intense; the "cult" has embraced this release with total devotion. We also saw surprising interest from the international underground right from the start. To capitalize on this momentum and reach a wider global audience, we premiered the full album today, January 21st, through the Atmospheric Black Metal Albums channel. For this specific international push, we decided to include subtitles in both Spanish and English. We want the listener to not only feel the sonic violence but also to understand the lyrical depth and the occult message behind our ritual. The press and the fans are reacting very positively to this "visual" and "literary" approach. They appreciate the raw, suffocating atmosphere of our Black/Death Metal combined with the clarity of our message. It's about creating a complete experience for the rebellious spirit.

And what about the lyrics?
The lyrics of LUCIFUGO are the backbone of our ritual. They are not merely words to accompany the music, but a poetic and philosophical manifestation of our occult devotion and our contempt for the dogmas that have blinded humanity for centuries. Our themes delve into Luciferianism, esoteric knowledge, and the raw darkness of the human soul. We explore the concept of the "Adversary" not just as a religious figure, but as a symbol of liberation, individual power, and the search for truth through the abyss. There is also a strong connection to our environment; the cold, gray atmosphere of the mountains in southern Colombia deeply influences the "Dark Ambient" and introspective side of our writing.
This is why we felt it was vital to include English subtitles in our official video on Atmospheric Black Metal Albums. We want the international community to understand the weight of our message. From the invocation of ancient entities to the total rejection of the "Nazarene" figure, every word is a strike against the sacred and a call to the primal spirit.
Are you in searching for a record label? What do you prefer, Label or DIY and why?
Currently, LUCIFUGO is operating under the DIY (Do It Yourself) philosophy. This debut album was entirely an independent production, which allowed us to have absolute creative control over our sound and visual aesthetics. We believe that in the beginning, the artist must prove their worth through their own strength and conviction. However, we are now open to collaborating with a record label that shares our vision. Our main goal right now is to expand our reach, both digitally and physically. Since we do not have physical copies (CDs or Vinyl) at the moment, finding a label to handle a professional physical edition and broader international distribution is our next logical step. We are looking for a partnership that can help us spread our plague to every corner of the globe. If we find a label that understands our essence and wants to help us grow, we will definitely join forces to amplify the cult of LUCIFUGO.

Is there any funny or weird story from the recordings or from your live shows that you would like to share with us?
We are three young individuals living our best era, fueled by raw energy, so there is always something happening. Our journey has been a mix of deep philosophical brotherhood and pure, chaotic adrenaline. We’ve shared music and occult philosophy with amazing bands and fans, and we’ve even won local metal competitions that have consolidated our name in the scene. However, some of our most "vivid" stories are the ones that gave life to songs like "Despiadado" (Ruthless). That track is a direct reflection of our more visceral side: street fights, alcohol, and the true "rock and roll" spirit of the underground. We can be cultured and philosophical, but we can also be rebellious, violent, or prudent—it all depends on the context. We embrace every facet of our human nature. One day we might be performing a solemn ritualistic set, and the next we are in the middle of a chaotic situation that feels like a war zone. We don’t hide that. That duality—between the occult student and the street warrior—is what makes LUCIFUGO authentic. We don't just play Black Metal; we live the intensity that comes with it.
Do you prefer Vinyl, Tape, CD or Digital Format and why is that?
We have discussed this many times within the band. We grew up during the transition; Vinyl and CDs were at their peak when we were very young, and then we witnessed the massive migration toward digital media. For us, the physical format is fundamental to the arts. Music is art, and just as our favorite books and paintings are tangible, we believe music deserves to be held in your hands. The experience of opening a Vinyl or a CD, exploring the artwork, and reading the lyrics while the music plays is something we deeply desire for LUCIFUGO. It completes the ritual. On the other hand, we fully understand the importance of digital formats. While not tangible, digital media allows our music to cross borders and reach places we never imagined. After all, our ultimate goal is for our message to reach those who identify with our darkness, regardless of where they are. Digital is the bridge, but physical is the temple. We want both.
Your music style is Black/Death Metal. Which are your main influences (Favourite Artists / Bands etc.)
Our influences are deeply rooted in the old-school sounds of the 80s and 90s; that era was crucial for our sonic foundation. Bathory is, without a doubt, one of our biggest pillars. We find Quorthon’s trajectory exceptional—the way he evolved his sound and the philosophical depth of his lyrics across his career is a massive inspiration for us. Hellhammer is another key influence; their "street-level" darkness and raw filth inspired many of our riffs. The sound and philosophy of Dissection were instrumental in helping us embrace the dark fire that defines LUCIFUGO. On the other hand, the vocal ferocity of Belphegor inspired our main vocal style, and even 80s Thrash Metal has influenced our riffs and our "life on the edge" lifestyle. As you can see, LUCIFUGO drinks from the ancient waters of extreme metal, but we use those ingredients to create something with its own identity. We take the tradition and forge it into our own weapon.
Which things do you think a band should sacrifice in order to succeed? Have you ever sacrificed anything in your life for a better future for your band?
More than a sacrifice, we see it as a Pact and a Brotherhood. When you form a band like this, you forge a bond between the members that goes beyond music. For us, it’s not just about rehearsing and composing; it’s about sharing life, facing difficulties, and overcoming internal struggles together. We have faced internal problems and personal challenges, but in the end, the brotherhood and the music were the engines that kept us going. To succeed, you don’t just sacrifice "time"—you sacrifice your ego for the sake of the project. We chose to channel our collective energy into spreading chaos and darkness through our art. In our case, the "sacrifice" has been staying true to our essence even when things got difficult. We chose to keep the flame of LUCIFUGO burning because we believe in this mission. The brotherhood is our strength, and our music is the result of that unbreakable union.
Describe your ideal live show as a performance band. Have you already experienced that?
Our ideal live show is a ritual where the energy of the crowd and the darkness of our music become one. It’s about total immersion and leaving a mark on everyone present. We’ve already had a few tastes of that power, but two specific events stand out: The first was a massive local competition involving 51 bands from all alternative subgenres. We fought our way to the finals and took second place. That was a turning point for us; it built our first solid fan base and gave us the definitive momentum to keep composing for LUCIFUGO. The second was our first show outside our hometown. The reception from both the organizers and the crowd was brutal. The venue was packed, and the energy was electric. We left an indelible mark that night, proving that our sound resonates far beyond our local borders. These experiences are just the beginning. We are prepared to keep expanding nationally and internationally. The stage is where the ritual of LUCIFUGO truly comes to life, and we are ready for the bigger stages that the future holds.

What do you think about the rise of AI in music production?
Art is fundamentally a human manifestation. We believe that AI can be a great tool for science, technology, and other fields where progress is essential, and we agree with that evolution. However, we do not like its total involvement in human art, especially in music. If used in music production, it should only be a technical tool to facilitate certain transversal processes or engineering tasks, but it should never replace the soul of composition or the raw interpretation of the instruments. It’s that simple: music needs the human spirit, its flaws, and its emotions to be authentic. Anything created 100% by a machine lacks the darkness and the fire that we seek in the underground.
What attributes do you think that a new Black/Death Metal Band should have in order to gain identity and be unique?
It’s simple: Authenticity. If your music speaks of darkness, live it. If your music speaks of violence, live it. If your music speaks of introspection, live it. You must be real with your art and evolve alongside it. Beyond the concept, you need discipline: work hard, rehearse relentlessly with the entire band, and hone your craft. When you truly pour your soul into what you do, everything else—identity, uniqueness, and recognition—starts to fall into place naturally. Identity isn't something you put on like a costume; it's what remains when you burn everything else away.
Do you believe that Digital Platforms help the new Black/Death Metal Bands? Which, do you think, is the ideal way for a band to promote its work?
Yes, they are a massive help. This very interview is a perfect example of that. We who create music do it with our souls, and our ultimate goal is for that art to transcend borders and reach the true fans. Digital platforms provide the bridge for that to happen. We also understand and respect that while some platforms are free, others require financial compensation or donations. We agree with this because many people live for and from the music; we all need to survive economically in this world. It’s how the system is built, and a warrior must fight in different ways to make a living. The ideal way to promote your work is a balance: use the global reach of digital tools to find your audience, but never lose the "human" and authentic connection that only the underground can provide.

From your experience in the music industry, what would you tell to a new Black/Death Metal band to avoid or what to do?
Extreme music is food for the spirit. My main advice is to avoid any attitude that shows weakness. You must show firmness and pride in what you are doing at all times. Live your life exactly as your music sounds and your lyrics speak; be authentic. As for the practical side: don't rush. Wait until you have a solid setlist, perfectly rehearsed with the entire band. Once you are ready, find your space and unleash it upon the audience. Performing on
stage and releasing all that primal energy is the most vital part of the ritual. If you don't feel like you're going to war when you step on stage, you're doing it wrong.
Tell us a few things about the New Underground Metal Scene in Colombia (Bands, Fanzines, Webzines, Metal Clubs etc.)
The metal scene in Colombia is incredibly strong and resilient; our most recognized national bands continue to forge their path. Specifically in our city, Pasto, the Black Metal scene is very intense and dedicated. There are people still committed to the old-school way, like the fanzine "Universo Apócrifo". It is so underground that it has no digital presence; the person behind it distributes the physical copies at night to fans of extreme metal. It’s fascinating to see that not everything has been digitized; it maintains a very mysterious and primal energy. Regarding metal clubs, there are several places where LUCIFUGO is already a known name. We spend our weekends there, sharing with the scene. Of course, when you have a band, you draw attention, and not everyone will welcome you with open arms. We have friends, but also people who don't like us. We’ve always shown strength; we are not here to please everyone. If someone offends us, they’ll get more than just a slap across the face jajaj. It’s our essence, and we will continue building it with fire and fist.

What does Metal means to you? And give us 10 metal albums that run in your veins.
Metal is an inseparable part of the soul. The soul is a complex combination of everything that defines us as human beings, and music—specifically this extreme sound—is the frequency through which we express our true nature. It is more than a genre; it is a way of perceiving and confronting existence. Here are 10 albums that are practically part of our DNA:
Bathory – Blood Fire Death
Dissection – Storm of the Light’s Bane
Hellhammer – All EPs and Demos
Belphegor – Blutsabbath
Inquisition – Into the Infernal Regions of the Ancient Cult
Deicide – Legion
Slayer – Show No Mercy
Sodom – Obsessed by Cruelty
Death – Leprosy
Morbid Angel – Altars of Madness
And even this list feels short... there is so much vital music out there that 10 albums are never enough to cover the vastness of the abyss.
Do you know anything about the Hellenic Metal Scene?
Yes, definitely. From my side (Sebastian), I am a massive fan of Rotting Christ; they are absolute pioneers and their influence on the dark atmosphere of metal is undeniable. However, I am still diving deeper into the Hellenic underground. The Greek scene has a very unique and mystical way of understanding Black Metal—it has a certain "feeling" that you don't find anywhere else. There is so much music to discover there, and I know many underground bands are sounding absolutely brutal right now. I’m always open to exploring more of that Mediterranean darkness.
What are your future plans?
We never stop. We already have two new songs composed for our second album. Our plans are focused on continuing to create and release music, but also on transmitting it live. We have found our true place on the stage; it’s where we feel most powerful, unleashing all the energy and the darkness we carry within our souls. We want to keep expanding our reach—both through new albums and by performing on stages anywhere the crowd is ready to enjoy and experience the ritual as much as we do. Our goal is to take the plague of LUCIFUGO to every corner possible. The journey into the abyss has just begun.
Thank you very much for your time & keep up the good work! The closure is yours.
Thank you, Stavros, and the entire Filthy Dogs of Metal crew for this space. It is vital for the underground that platforms like yours continue to spread the flame of extreme music. To those reading: LUCIFUGO is not just a band; it is a declaration of spiritual war and individual liberation. We invite you to join this ritual and listen to our debut album, which has just been premiered on the Atmospheric Black Metal Albums YouTube channel. Dive into the abyss with us—the lyrics are subtitled in English so you can understand the depth of our pact. Note for the curious: For those who enjoyed the track "Húmeda Triangularidad", we have an explicit version available. This song explores the intersection of darkness, ritual, and sex—a raw side of our human essence. You can watch it here:
