Interview with JUGGERNAUT

!!!BRAZILIAN THRASH METAL!!!

We had a conversation with Cícero (Vocals). Enjoy!
Welcome to the FILTHY DOGS OF METAL Webzine.
Tell us a few things about JUGGERNAUT (Members, Starting Year etc).
The story of Juggernaut began in 2005, at Blumenau city in Santa Catarina state, south of Brazil. Célio Jr decided to leave the thrash metal band Rhestus and dedicated himself to the new project. Today, the members of Juggernaut are Célio Jr on the guitars, Cicero on the vocals, Alefer on the drums and Fabrício Duwe on the bass.

You have recently released your album ''La Bestia''. What is the Feedback from your audience as well as from the Press?
There are many comments about the new album around the world. We are very excited about the different opinions, because most of them are positive. Our press, Sangue Frio Produções, is doing an excellent job and we are extremely happy with what they're presenting to us.

Label or DIY and why?
The Juggernaut always worked with the DIY mode because it seems to work better to us. By the way, we don’t have problems with the Labels, but we decided to always make the Albums or any stuff within our means possibilities (time, money, etc).

Do you prefer Vinyl, Tape, CD or Digital Format and why is that?
In my opinion, no one can beat the vinyl audio, but its price is so expensive these days. Because of this, the CD and the digital format are better today, you know?

Your music style is Thrash MetalWhich are your main influences (Favourite Artists Bands etc.)
The band's proposal is play a Thrash Metal (with influences of Death, Sadus and Destruction), but not in a traditional way, bringing elements of Rock and Progressive metal like Marillion, Rush and Dream Theater.

Which things, do you think, a Band should sacrifice in order to succeed? Have you ever sacrificed anything in your life for a better future of your Band?
I believe what the band should sacrifice is their TIME. Time for composing, time for rehearsals, time for their families and consequently, the time on the road to make tours and shows. At the Juggernaut we never need to sacrifice important commitments, we always try to organize our agenda to never coincide with personal commitments.

Describe your ideal live show as a performance Band. Have you already experienced that?
The ideal show is when the public enjoy with the band, moshing and screaming all the time with the same energy.

Which attributes, do you think, that a new Thrash Metal Band should have in order to gain identity and be unique?
Never listen to just one style of music. There are a lot of good bands you can listen to, you know? To create your own identity you need to be different.

Do you believe that Bandcamp and other Digital Platforms help the new Thrash Metal Bands? Which, do you think, is the ideal way for a Band to promote its work?
Yes, I believe and also believe that platforms don't care about the small artist. In the underground, all the members of the band need to be involved at the process and, if possible, to hire a good press to help.

Tell us a few things about the New Underground Metal Scene in Brazil (Bands, Fanzines, Webzines, Metal Clubs etc.
Speaking especially of our region (south of Brazil), I think it is very good. There are great bands from rock to black metal, and there are good webzines/fanzines from underground to mainstream. The old brothers from the metal scene keep the flame alive, but I think maybe the metal scene needs to be renewed.

Do you know anything about the Hellenic Metal Scene?
Talking about the term “Hellenic black metal” I'll be honest to you, I didn't know. But, in a quick search I found what is that and how many bands are part of this. So, I can say that I already know some bands who make part of this “circle”, like Rotting Christ and Dark Messiah for example, but I had never heard of this term.

What are your future plans?
The end of the pandemic. When the pandemic is over we are so prepared to present the new line up and the new songs alive.

Thank you very much for your time & Keep up the good work! The closure is yours.
Thank you for the opportunity and the support. Please follow us on all the social media and listen to the new album on your favorite streaming platforms. Thank you so much Stavros.
