Interview with BLASFEMA PLEGARIA

Welcome to the FILTHY DOGS OF METAL Webzine.

Tell us some things about BLASFEMA PLEGARIA (members, years of beginning, etc.)
Blasfema Plegaria is a band that started from the depths of the seas, hatred, resentment and deep feelings of the human being, Walter Soto (guitarist) within the confinement of his work in the middle of the sea has composed some of the works that we have recently published. This starts in 2022 with Brayan (drums), Damián (bass), and Walter (guitar/vocals) starting with the first three songs of the recently released demo. The rest is history.

You recently released the single "Borrachera con Satan." What meaning do you want to convey to your audience?
Borrachera con satan shows the true feeling of the band when it comes to expressing themselves lyrically, highlighting the thrash scene and the state of madness that the listener can generate when listening to our music.

Do you prefer a stamp or a Do It Yourself, and why?
From what we understand at the moment, we are working under our own management, but we are open to receiving proposals to continue growing.

Do you have any funny or unusual stories from a live performance or event that you'd like to share with us?
The first presentation of Blasfema Plegaria was in a coliseum on the street just on Halloween day in 2023, the idea was to go in costume, the drummer dressed as Jesus, the guitarists painted their faces and the vocalist went with his black tunic, what nobody expected were the costumes of the public, which were quite funny, the recordings of our debut are on our YouTube channel.

What do you prefer: vinyl, tape, or digital format, and why?
Any recording format is essential. As for uses, there's no hard and fast rule, and the more people we can reach, the better. The important thing is that the material is disseminated and enjoyed.

Your musical style is Black/Thrash metal. What would be some of your influences, favorite artists, bands, etc.?
National bands have been strong influencers in terms of the idea of speed and aggressiveness, disaster, dekapited, infernal slaughter and classic bands such as: Sodom, Exodus and immortal influence some execution techniques giving the pass to what we are doing.

What things do you think the band had to sacrifice to maintain life and a better future for the band?
Many of us have had to sacrifice time and resources to keep our project afloat, both personally and as a group. We are truly confident that our sacrifices have been worth it, given the people who support us and the opportunities that have presented themselves.

Describe your ideal live show or band performance. What would you have had an experience like that?
The ideal live show would be composed of a light show in accordance with the songs and explosions of fire and paraphernalia on the stage giving a performance for each song.

What attributes do you think a new Black/Thrash Metal band should have to gain identity and be unique?
Stage design, affection, and the most important thing that many bands don't talk about is the desire to play and show your music to others. The feeling and how you carry yourself on stage gives you the authenticity that your band or project deserves.

Do you think digital platforms help new black/thrash metal bands? What do you think is the ideal way for a band to promote their work?
Of course! Currently, platforms have greatly facilitated the work of disseminating material and music in general, especially the approach that can be achieved with the public or with people who may be interested in the work of others, but abusing those platforms can be a double-edged sword, since the true essence of metal will always be the underground, tapes, albums, zines, etc.

Do you see any differences between the Chilean metal market and the US metal market (labels, bands, fans, etc.)
Support and fans are noticeable when it comes to putting bands together or distributing material, since connections and money usually tend to boost music projects in general a bit more, in addition to the centralization that here in Chile is quite noticeable.

What do you think about the rise of AI in music production? Do you see it as a tool that can enhance creativity, or do you think it poses challenges to the authenticity of music creation?
AI has enhanced and facilitated the work for those who do not have sufficient resources, because art is currently not very profitable, the tools that a person normally has in their favor could be some technological device, with just one click you can obtain many results, but at the same time the essence of art on the records is obscured: the drawings, the lyrics in some cases, as any excess is bad.

Tell us some things about the New Underground Metal Scene in Chile (Bands, Fanzines, Webzines, Metal Clubs, etc.)
The national metal scene is usually accompanied by great underground fans providing support to emerging bands.

Do you know anything about the Hellenic metal scene?
We are familiar with the Hellenic metal scene, such as Astarte, which is one of the bands that has captivated us with its sound and its own style.

What are your plans for the future?
Continue creating our own material to keep the scene alive with our own sound.

Thank you very much for your time, and keep up the good work! The closing is yours.
Thank you very much for considering us for your interview and for taking the time to listen to our band.
