Interview with SOLAR FLARE

!!!POWER METAL FROM THE USA!!!
We had a conversation with Garian Perry (Guitar). Enjoy!

Welcome to the FILTHY DOGS OF METAL Webzine.
1. Tell us a few things about SOLAR FLARE (Members, Starting Year etc).
We are a Heavy/Power Metal band out of Amelia, OH. We have Ethan as our singer and original founder of the group. We have Mark and Myself on Guitars, Jordan on Drums and Cody on Bass. We started in 2014 but this lineup wasn’t fully imagined until late 2018.

2. You have recently released your album ''Solar Flare''. What is the Feedback from your audience as well as from the Press?
So far we love the support and feedback we’ve gotten after release! From all the reviews we’ve gotten were averaging a 7.5-8/10 and were honored and humbled to receive such praise!

3. Label or DIY and why?
This debut album was independently funded, recorded and made, however; we do hope the next record has some help! We are keeping our options open.

4. Do you prefer Vinyl, Tape, CD or Digital Format and why is that?
For me personally I love vinyl and collect old metal/rock records. For us, our album is digital only at this time. Physical CD’s won’t be available until further notice due to COVID sadly.

5. Your music style is Heavy/Power Metal. Which are your main influences (Favourite Artists / Bands etc.)
The 5 of us each have our own unique tastes and we try to add our own pieces into our writing. Me, personally they are Savatage, AC/DC, Iron Maiden, Blind Guardian, and Judas Priest. Amongst thousands of other bands!

6. Which things, do you think, a Band should sacrifice in order to succeed? Have you ever sacrificed anything in your life for a better future of your Band?
A. This is a hard one but the biggest sacrifice of all to make sure your band succeeds is time. Time and dedication is what drives you forward to reach your goals and make your dreams reality.
I know that's “cat poster-y” but its true.
B. For me my biggest sacrifice is like I said is my time and devotion to this band. Ive worked countless hours and spent so much to make sure everything is running at full efficiency and to try and keep it all afloat.7. Describe your ideal live show as a performance Band. Have you already experienced that?
My ideal show is we have a huge theatrical stage show live at WACKEN in Germany. To me if we ever reached that goal, I’d die a happy metalhead.

8. Which attributes, do you think, that a new Heavy/Power Metal Band should have in order to gain identity and be unique?
For us, even though out style is derivative of more 80’s style Metal bands. We try to add a more modern identity into it to help us stand out amongst the rest.

9. Do you believe that Bandcamp and other Digital Platforms help the new Heavy Metal Bands? Which, do you think, is the ideal way for a Band to promote its work?
Bandcamp is a blessing for up and coming bands to get their work out there to the world. Its smooth and streamlined and has been a big help for us! In my opinion, Bandcamp, Spotify, and all other forms of streaming and social media (Facebook, Instagram, etc.) are the best ways to connect your audience and promote your music to the masses.

10. Tell us a few things about the New Underground Metal Scene in Amelia/Cincinnati, Ohio USA (Bands, Fanzines, Webzines, Metal Clubs etc.)
Amelia itself doesn’t really have much of a Metal scene but the main city its by, Cincinnati is SPRAWLING with all kinds of metal bands and entertainment alike!Bands like our friends Automaton, Siegelord, Unrivaled, Feral Friends, and Split The Abyss have taken this scene by storm and we proud to share the same experience alongside them!

11. Do you know anything about the Hellenic Metal Scene?
As far as I’m aware, (and with a little google search haha) the Hellenic scene was a period of Black Metal bands coming out of Greece. That's all I know, honestly.

12. What are your future plans?
Right now, with most if not all venues closed down due to the pandemic. We sadly won’t being doing many shows this year. HOWEVER, we do plan to start writing for the next album! Stay tuned!

13. Thank you very much for your time & Keep up the good work! The closure is yours.
Thank you Filthy Dogs Of Metal for having us! Our self-titled debut album is out now on Bandcamp, Spotify, Google Music, Apple Music, and Amazon! Be sure to follow us on our Facebook, Instagram and Twitter! Stay safe and praise the sun!
