Tell us a few things about MADDOX (Members, Starting Year etc).
Hi everyone thanks a lot for the interview to the FILTHY DOGS OF METAL, we are Maddox and we start to play around 2011 as a "garage band" in Monterrey, Mexico.Currently, the members are: Seph Piρon (Vocals), Eddie Maddox (guitars), H.H. Maddox (Drums) and Moro Maddox (Bass).
In 2019 you have released your album ''Demency Overdose''. What was the feedback from your audience as well as from the press?
Yeah, we release our first LP that year on September and we receive good reviews from our fans and from some radio shows, it was a hard work to release after a few years of composition and recording, but finally we did it.
Label or DIY and why?
This album has been released independent because we don’t know too much about the music industry in terms of labels, but in fact, we are looking for some label around the world that can help us to promote MADDOX around the world in a more professional way.
Do you prefer Vinyl, Tape, CD or Digital Format and why is that?
Certainly, we prefer CD and Vinyl, we know the market today is digital, but we are more nostalgic, we think the experience having in your hands a piece or art is more satisfactory.
Your music style is Thrash Metal. Which are your main influences (Favourite Artists / Bands etc.)
We have a lot of influences you know all the legendary bands of Hard Rock, Heavy Metal, Thrash Metal, Death Metal, etc., but to say someone’s we can say Slayer, Testament, Obituary, Pantera, etc.
Which things, do you think, a Band should sacrifice in order to succeed?
Well we thought maybe is the time because everything else is not sacrifice, is passion for the music and for playing alive, maybe something else is you have to fire those who do not left to advance even if they are friends.
Have you ever sacrificed anything in your life for a better future of your Band?
We think some lost family moments and tranquility due to some problems with our families.
Describe your ideal live show as a performance Band. Have you already experienced that?
Our ideal live show is where we can listen all our music and that the public can hear it with quality, I mean hear clearly the bass, drum, voice etc. we make a lot of noise on the stage and that is something we always seek on every show and of course get infected with the energy of the public and vice versa.
Which attributes, do you think, that a new Thrash Metal Band should have in order to gain identity and be unique?
Is a hard work to be unique on this days, but we believe in making the music we like and evolve naturally, don’t force the music.
Do you believe that Bandcamp and other Digital Platforms help the new Thrash Metal Bands?
Of course, they help a lot, without all platforms it would be much more difficult to be heard on other countries.
Which, do you think, is the ideal way for a Band to promote its work?
In these days is with a promoter agency, many social networks and of course good quality music.
Tell us a few things about the New Underground Metal Scene in Mexico (Bands, Fanzines, Webzines, Metal Clubs etc.)
The New Underground Metal Scene in Mexico has grown a lot the last years, many good bands, many good albums released, if you do a little research you can find a lot of good bands from Mexico, many good metal radio and tv shows, all of that helps the bands and the whole scene and of course the internet has opened the doors to independent bands like us.
Do you know anything about the Hellenic Metal Scene?
To be honest we don’t know much bands from Greece but Rotting Christ is very popular here in Mexico.
What are your future plans?
Our plans are to find a record label to release another album or even re-release the “Demency Overdose”, already have almost 6 or 7 seven songs for a new album and we hope to compose some more. We would like to be heard internationally and of course have tours around the world.
