Interview with APOCRYPTH

!!!THRASH METAL INVASION FROM FINLAND!!!

We had a conversation with Simo (Guitar). Enjoy!

Welcome to the FILTHY DOGS OF METAL Webzine.
Tell us a few things about APOCRYPTH (Members, Starting Year etc).
We are a Finnish thrash metal band formed in 2012. We’ve had a few line-up changes in the past, but our current members are Timi (vocals and guitar), Elias (drums), Anton (bass) and Simo (guitar).

You have recently released your EP ''Those Hidden Away''. What is the feedback from your audience as well as from the press?
Reviews are in progress and the feedback so far has been positive.

Label or DIY and why?
DIY. We started to record some songs a while ago. At some point we realized that the material is actually fit for releasing.

Do you prefer Vinyl, Tape, CD or Digital Format and why is that?
Vinyl has some special feel to it, but when it comes to the EP, digital format was the easiest to distribute all over the world.

Your music style is Thrash Metal. Which are your main influences (Favourite Artists / Bands etc.)
Our music is mainly influenced by old school bands, such as Slayer, Anthrax and Death. Also some Finnish bands, such as Stone and Stam1na.

Which things, do you think, a Band should sacrifice in order to succeed? Have you ever sacrificed anything in your life for a better future of your Band?
With a little bit of planning and thought you don’t need to make major sacrifices. At least on this level.

Describe your ideal live show as a performance Band. Have you already experienced that?
As long as the audience is enjoying themselves and feeling our energy, every gig is ideal.

Which attributes, do you think, that a new Thrash Metal Band should have in order to gain identity and be unique?
You should take risks and explore influences from other genres rather than rely on clichés.

Do you believe that Digital Platforms help the new Thrash Metal Bands? Which, do you think, is the ideal way for a Band to promote its work?
We are still discovering ways to promote our music, but there’s plenty of possibilities. The digital platforms make it easier to promote your work, but there’s also a lot of competition.

Tell us a few things about the New Underground Metal Scene in Finland (Bands, Fanzines, Webzines, Metal Clubs etc.)
The scene is alive and well obviously, since Finland has the most metal bands per capita in the world. There’s also metal related clubs among the universities all over Finland, such as HYRMY and Metal Club Mökä.

Do you know anything about the Hellenic Metal Scene?
We know a few bands from Greece (Suicidal Angels, Septicflesh, Amken etc.). The scene itself is quite unknown for us be we would love to know it better!

What are your future plans?
Our current plan is to promote our music by doing live shows. We also plan to record our full-length album in the near future.

Thank you very much for your time & Keep up the good work! The closure is yours.
Thanks for having us! We hope we hear more from the readers of FILTHY DOGS OF METAL Webzine. And remember, Da Vinci invented the helicopter.
