Interview with ANOUSHBARD

We had a conversation with Sherwin (Guitars/Vocals). Enjoy!

Welcome to the FILTHY DOGS OF METAL Webzine.

Tell us a few things about ANOUSHBARD (Members, Starting Year etc).
Band formed in 2017, Siavash and I decided to bring some ideas and working together as a band.

You have recently released your album ''Abandoned Treasure''. What is the feedback from your audience as well as from the press?
Actually It was not much. We expecting much more, but I guess most of the audience liked the album.

Label or DIY and why?
We were looking for labels for this album but unfortunately we couldn’t make it so maybe the next album. I’m hopeful.

Do you prefer Vinyl, Tape, CD or Digital Format and why is that?
Right now the album is available in Digital format but soon we have CDs too.

Your music style is Progressive Metal. Which are your main influences (Favourite Artists / Bands etc.)
As I mentioned many times, the first person that I really admire is Mr Mikael Akerfeltd from Opeth, He has a great influence in my Musical life, In addition I can say that I am a big fan of Arch Enemy, Amon Amarth, Soen.

Which things do you think a band should sacrifice in order to succeed? Have you ever sacrificed anything in your life for a better future for your band?
I guess you have to sacrifice many things such as your time and also your job, Yes I have, Working as a musician in Iran is really hard as you can’t earn money from Metal.

Describe your ideal live show as a performance band. Have you already experienced that?
It’s hard to say. It would be full of crowd in a good weather condition and great sound quality. Unfortunately I didn’t have that chance. Maybe in the future.

What attributes do you think that a new Metal Band should have in order to gain identity and be unique?
I guess you should have your own character in the terms of Music, vocal and lyrics, also how to perform in front of crow plays a great role in this case.

Do you believe that Digital Platforms help the new Metal Bands? Which, do you think, is the ideal way for a band to promote its work?
I think so, personally I prefer Spotify.

Do you see any differences between the Iranian Metal Market & the EU Metal Market (Labels, Bands, Fans etc)?
Well, Definitely, in terms of fans I have to say the minority of people tent to listen to metal music. Because the metal music is not legal so there are few band in Iran working in this genre.

Tell us a few things about the New Underground Metal Scene in Iran (Bands, Fanzines, Webzines, Metal Clubs etc.)
There are some bands now working in this genre but I don’t see any future for them, because of our restrictions in Iran many of them get discourage.

Do you know anything about the Hellenic Metal Scene?
Unfortunately I haven’t heard of it but I will search about it. The only band I know from Greece is Septicflesh which is great.

The last 3 years, worldwide in the world, we have faced many dark, strange & new situations in our everyday life (covid, lock-down etc.) Did all of this affect you positively or negatively?
It was disaster for all of us I guess, But the bright side of it was you can find enough time working on new ideas and new songs.

What are your future plans?
Taking part in some Festivals and concerts and also working on our 3th album.

Thank you very much for your time & keep up the good work! The closure is yours.
It was a great interview and thank you so much.
