Interview with ANCESTHOR

!!!THRASH METAL FROM MEXICO!!!

Welcome to the FILTHY DOGS OF METAL Webzine.

Tell us a few things about ANCESTHOR (Members, Starting Year etc).

We started on 2010
J. Luis Soto - guitar/vocals
Chad Guerrero - bass
John Robles - guitar
Omar Caballero - drums

You have recently released your album ''White Terror''. What is the feedback from your audience as well as from the press?

So far it has been awesome! Either listeners and press! We are more than grateful with everyone.

Label or DIY and why?

We’ve been a DIY band since we returned in 2018, but we wouldn’t have any problem if a label considered us for a release.

Do you prefer Vinyl, Tape, CD or Digital Format and why is that?

They all have their pros and cons, you’ll never see me using a Walkman on the street 😂 obviously the vinyl sound is god but we have to learn how to embrace the advantages of new technologies.

Your music style is Thrash Metal. Which are your main influences (Favourite Artists / Bands etc.)

Rush, Sacrifice, Coroner, Marty Friedman, Jason Becker, Yngwie Malmsteen.

Which things, do you think, a Band should sacrifice in order to succeed? Have you ever sacrificed anything in your life for a better future of your Band?

It takes a lot of elbow grease to make things happen, there’s no shortcuts, we’ve all sacrificed time and money to accomplish things here in the band, everyone should know what they are willing to sacrifice to try to achieve their own purposes.

Describe your ideal live show as a performance Band. Have you already experienced that?

As long as people enjoys our stuff, it is a great show! I guess I don’t have the ideal show in my mind.

Which attributes, do you think, that a new Thrash Metal Band should have in order to gain identity and be unique?

Probably to get in touch with the music they identify with, it doesn’t have to be necessarily thrash metal, keeping certain proximity to other genres and ideas helps a lot!

Do you believe that Digital Platforms help the new Thrash Metal Bands? Which, do you think, is the ideal way for a Band to promote its work?

Definitively! I’d say go for all! You never know where new listeners are coming from.

Tell us a few things about the New Underground Metal Scene in Mexico (Bands, Fanzines, Webzines, Metal Clubs etc.)

The metal scene is something that has been growing exponentially in the last years and we are delighted! We are hoping to have a bigger and better metal scene, we have seen many great examples like Blastbeat 105 in the radio, Teporothrasher on Facebook, blogs like Metallerium and many others.

Do you know anything about the Hellenic Metal Scene?

Haven’t heard of it, sorry.

What are your future plans?

We want to keep sending our new material everywhere and probably getting new shows, Covid has screwed many people’s plans but we’re still hanging. Also, we are expecting to release a new video in the coming months, expect nothing but fire 🔥

Thank you very much for your time & Keep up the good work! The closure is yours.

Thank you so much for the space and the consideration, we would appreciate your follow on Facebook, IG, YouTube, etc. Please share if you liked our recent material and expect the best from us for the coming months!
