Interview with ALPHA ANTICHRIST

Tell us a few things about ALPHA ANTICHRIST (Members, Starting Year etc).
Hi,I‘m Karl, guitarist of Alpha Antichrist.This project was formed in 2023.3. We are a 3 bastards Metal Punk crew. Our vocal Sun and me started this shit. Because we hate the situation of Chinese Metal&Punk scene, so we decided to do a new band making some music that we wanna listen. Then our friend—LuLu, the guitarist of Eagerkill (Chinese thrash metal band) heard about this, he was very interested in, he wanna play some sick solo that different with EGK, so he joined us. But we had on-hold for about year and half, due to some struggle with our own life, haha. And we strike back in 2025.11, and finish works of 1st EP [ Bloodbath in Hiroshima ]. Now you can listen it on Bandcamp or Youtube.
You have recently released your EP ''Bloodbath In Hiroshima''. What is the feedback from your audience as well as from the press?
We got some feedback from Japan.While we put our first single track on Bandcamp, Mr.Tetsuya Sugiyama (Military Shadow, Bafomet, Verdalack) had invited us to do an interview that will be published on Japanese hardcore punk magazine—EL Zine.And we already finished that. Feedback in China not bad, many people listened us and they like it.By far, our music still not played so much in Bandcamp or YouTube ,wish more and more people could listen us.
And what about the lyrics?
First track [Bloodbath in Hiroshima] is from the YAKUZA movie [Battles Without Honor And Humanity],the favorite Yakuza movie of us.I really like the sprit of Yakuza, they are the last Samurai of Japan,I think. So we use this movie as theme of 1st track.2nd track [Alpha Antichrist], as you can see, It’s a total Anti-God song, about Lucifer descend.
Are you in searching for a record label? What do you prefer, Label or DIY and why?
Not actually, but Mr.Tetsuya Sugiyama wanna release a tape in Japan as the Japanese edition. I DIY about 30 copies CDR through my own small label FarEastHolocaustRecords, but it sales not well, haha.I think I’m a both guy,I enjoy collecting the early demos that band made by themselves, but the studio recording,I prefer it was made by a professional label.
Is there any funny or weird story from the recordings or from your live shows that you would like to share with us?
About the 1st track, you can hear some BPM changing.That’s because at that time, about 2 years ago,I can’t play as fast as the other part, so we make it a little bit slower, shame on me. Maybe someday we will re-recording it, sorry again.
Do you prefer Vinyl, Tape, CD or Digital Format and why is that?
I prefer Vinyl.I must collect a vinyl if it is my carry-to-grave album.I also have a lot CD&Tapes, because it’s cheaper than vinyl, haha.
How is the situation in China as far as studio recordings / rehearsal rooms etc. are concerned?
Not quite know about that. We did recording works at our own bedrooms.DIY or die!!!And we are not a performing band, we just make studio recordings by far.3 of us are living in different city of Shandong Province, having a rehearsal is hard.
Your music style is MetalPunk. Which are your main influences (Favourite Artists / Bands etc.)
We inspired from Motörhead,Venom, Bathory, Celtic Frost, GISM, Zouo, G.A.T.E.S., Syphilitic Vaginas, Abigail/Barbatos, Bonehunter, Gorgon, Midnight, Demon Pact, Gehennah, Paintbox, Forward etc.
Which things do you think a band should sacrifice in order to succeed? Have you ever sacrificed anything in your life for a better future for your band?
Money,Time and Faith.Making a band, you must pay a lot money to the evil, then you could get what you want, maybe.Practicing will take a lot time.Recording and Writing also.Balancing work, life and band it’s not easy.When you made this, your energy probably run out, without strong faith, the band won’t go far.Making money in China getting harder after Covid-19, you must sacrifice your everything to make the music out.
Describe your ideal live show as a performance band. Have you already experienced that?
Sorry, we probably won’t play gigs.But someday, haha.
What do you think about the rise of AI in music production?
Dumbass will use AI to do music.Music is so royalty,AI never could make the real music.Dumbass too.China have a thousands dumbass music maker.
What attributes do you think that a new Metal Band should have in order to gain identity and be unique?
I think a band should make something that they really wanna listen, if there has something that you couldn’t stand it up even yourself, you are making real shit.Shit won’t gain identity and be unique.Make the sound that you really wanna, bro. Keep thinking and listening and practicing is important as well, never stop listening good music, keep digging!!!
Do you believe that Digital Platforms help the new Metal Bands? Which, do you think, is the ideal way for a band to promote its work?
I think so. Bandcamp really helped us to get some good opportunities.If without Bandcamp, we probably won’t have this interview today. Nowadays, the world becoming more digitally, you can find many rare music from the internet, that’s good.You can listen and buy it through the internet, at the 80s, this is unbelievable. In China, there don’t have many record shops, only in some big city, like Peking,Shanghai.Buying foreign records through Bandcamp its good, although shipping cost is high as fuck.Thanks Bandcamp.
From your experience in the music industry, what would you tell to a new Metal band to avoid or what to do?
I must say, many kids don’t know what is true music, especially in China.We got a thousands teenager metal bands in China, but most of them sounds terrible. They think metal or punk its a kind of circus music.What can I say…..Find the sound from your heart, then make it, never follow the vibe.
Tell us a few things about the New Underground Metal Scene in Shandong, China (Bands, Fanzines, Webzines, Metal Clubs etc.)
Shandong have a new stoner band, called Harrison Hertz.Was formed by Bassist/Vocal of Tractor — Lee (China Metal Punk band).Tractor is my favorite band in China, they got pure Japanese punk influence mixing with NWOBHM, dirty and filthy. Our guitarist‘s Thrash Metal band ——— Eagerkill,will release their new album in 2026,they are the one of the best thrash in China.And there has an Old-School Punk bar/livehouse, called DMC in Qingdao city. Shandong is the most feudal region in this world, this place was poisoned by Confucianism for 2 thousand years.Most of Shandongnese are pigs,or monkeys.Metal&Punk or Rock music will make them feel uncomfortable.

What are your future plans?
We are heading to the 2nd EP, planning release it before end of 2026. It’s a story about Harakiri and revenge.
