Interview with MERCURIO

We had a conversation with MERCURIO.Enjoy!

Welcome to the FILTHY DOGS OF METAL Webzine.

1. Tell us a few things about MERCURIO (Members, Starting Year etc).

Mercurio was formed in the middle of 2018 by Martin Barrenechea (vocals) and Demian Perez (drums), rehearsing at first in Demi's house with unstable musicians and making the first songs. In 2019 the current lineup was consolidated with the incorporation of Martin Pinto (guitars) and Sebastian España (bass).

2. You have recenlty released your Mini-Album ''Invasion Metalica''. What is the feedback from your audience as well as from the press?

It had a very good reception, the mini album got very positive reviews and got us invited to participate in many concerts here in Buenos Aires and Rosario city (Santa Fe province) and to many underground radio stations who were interested in our work as well.3. Label or DIY and why?

We made the record by ourselves independently, in the guitarist's home-studio which allowed get the sound we wanted without worries about time or intermediaries.

4. Do you prefer Vinyl, Tape, CD or Digital Format and why is that?

We consider the CD and Digital formats as the most effective because they are the ones that most people have access to. But we have in mind vinyl and tape editions too.5. Your music style is Heavy Metal. Which are your main influences (Favourite Artists / Bands etc.)

Our influences are the classic Heavy Metal bands (Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Accept, etc), the street sound from bands like Twisted Sister or Victim and the heavy rock from Spain (bands like Baron Rojo or Panzer).

6. Which things, do you think, a Band should sacrifice in order to succeed? Have you ever sacrificed anything in your life for a better future of your Band?

To have success with the band you have to sacrifice time, money, be 100% into the band and control yourself with partying so you can give your best live performance. But in the end these things are not sacrifices because we do what we love and it's very pleasant to see the great results you get.

7. Describe your ideal live show as a performance Band. Have you already experienced that?

An ideal show for us is simply with our friends and people who enjoy the band's music enjoying and rocking like there's no tomorrow. We don't claim anything more than that.8. Which attributes, do you think, that a new Metal Band should have in order to gain identity and be unique?

Mainly not to lock up in the classical heavy metal cliches we all know, obviously all the bands have them but each band has to have its brand, something distinctive in the music, in the sound, in the image or in the lyrics.

9. Do you believe that Bandcamp and other Digital Platforms help the new Heavy Metal Bands? Which, do you think, is the ideal way for a Band to promote its work?

Yes, we believe they help a lot to spread the music of the bands because it's free to upload the material and nowadays everything goes through the cell phone and it's apps. Spotify and Youtube are the most used platforms here in Argentina so those are the ones we use.

10. Tell us a few things about the New Underground Metal Scene in Argentina (Bands, Fanzines, Webzines, Metal Clubs etc.)

Here in Argentina there is a very good scene at the moment with high quality bands like Hërpes, Steelballs, Kombate, Rústica, Velocidad 22 among others. And there are many great fanzines like "Enterrado Vivo Fanzine" and radios like "Territory Radio" or "Vientos de rebelion" who have invited us more than once to participate in their program. In concerts organization there is the example of "Argentina Thrash Metal" that make great shows in many places around Buenos Aires giving place to old and new bands as well to participate. Finally, regarding clubs we can mention the "Speed Metal Army" located in San Fernando (Buenos Aires), which is a great place where great festivals are put together, with everything self-managed and where every band must play anytime.11. Do you know anything about the Hellenic Metal Scene?

Honestly this is the first time we hear that term.

12. What are your future plans?

Our plans at the moment are to make the official presentation of "Invasion Metalica" which was postponed due to the quarantine, with the physical edition and merchandising and we have planned to record an LP in the beginning of the next year.13. Thank you very much for your time & Keep up the good work! The closure is yours.

Thanks a lot Stavros for giving us a place on your site. We are very happy that our music has arrived so far from here and to the ears of people interested in spreading this work, it's a great support for us. Cheers and Long live Heavy Metal!
