Interview with GUEPPARDO

!!!BRAZILIAN HARD 'N' HEAVY METAL!!!
We had a conversation with Perÿ Rodriguez (Guitars/Vocals). Enjoy!

Welcome to the FILTHY DOGS OF METAL Webzine.
Tell us a few things about GUEPPARDO (Members, Starting Year etc).
Gueppardo started in 2007, I founded the band with my twin brother, and after many changes we reached the current line-up that I consider an excellent team. Currently it's me, Perÿ Rodriguez on guitar, Thiago Gutierres, vocals, Rafael Yadek on bass and Lucas Rodrigues on drums.

You have recently released your album ''I Am the Law''. What is the feedback from your audience as well as from the press?
The public and the press are reacting very well, of course, we're still in the middle of a pandemic and we can't play live, but we've already sold a lot of CDs.

Label or DIY and why?
I believe that a little of both, it's good to have a record label but the artist can't just wait for it and he has to do his part.

Do you prefer Vinyl, Tape, CD or Digital Format and why is that?
I'm 47 years old and obviously I've had records and cassette tapes and I love it, my first record was The Number of the Beast that my dad gave me for my birthday in 1986, so I always prefer the physical format.

Your music style is Heavy Metal. Which are your main influences (Favourite Artists / Bands etc.)
In a band there are 4 or 5 people and everyone has particular tastes, in my case my biggest influence on guitar is Michael Schenker and Dio, as a band, and also many others from the 80s.

Which things, do you think, a Band should sacrifice in order to succeed? Have you ever sacrificed anything in your life for a better future of your Band?
I will speak again for myself, these are difficult times, we have to make great efforts to keep a band on the road. I invest a lot and devote a lot of time to my band, that's all I have, I've left relationships, jobs and anything else to play. Gueppardo is my reason for waking up every day, I only think about playing.

Describe your ideal live show as a performance Band. Have you already experienced that?
In my opinion a show must have performance, good execution and above all entertain the audience, leave people satisfied. I've watched a few concerts that left me with that feeling like Judas Priest and Kiss, who are masters of it.

Which attributes, do you think, that a new Heavy Metal Band should have in order to gain identity and be unique?
What strikes me the most is the attitude, you have to be enjoying what you do, the rest is conquered over time.

Do you believe that Bandcamp and other Digital Platforms help the new Heavy Metal Bands? Which, do you think, is the ideal way for a Band to promote its work?
I think the future has arrived and this is part of our lives, but nothing beats a live show, being with people, we've done about 550 shows so far and in my opinion it's the ideal way to reach your audience . We belong to the road.

Tell us a few things about the New Underground Metal Scene in Brazil (Bands, Fanzines, Webzines, Metal Clubs etc.)
Fortunately there are many new traditional Heavy Metal bands here, great bands but unfortunately the bar circuit is deficient or offers bad conditions, as for zines and promotion channels we have two points: there are people who help and do it for love and so many others who are only concerned with taking money from bands, despite everything we always fight our war and never give up, and we will never do that.

Do you know anything about the Hellenic Metal Scene?
I really know little but there is Rotting Christ who is a great band, I really want to play there because the culture and the whole history of Greece enchants me.

What are your future plans?
Our future plans are to do a tour to promote Sou the Law (we already have some shows booked), we have several songs for our next album and play everywhere we can, as it has always been our biggest passion.

Thank you very much for your time & Keep up the good work! The closure is yours.
I want to thank for the interview, our fans and friends and say that we will be together soon. Thank you very much and metal is and always will be our law.

By Steve the Filthy Dog.
