Interview with FILOSA

!!!ARGENTINIAN STEEL!!!

We had a conversation with FILOSA. Enjoy!

Welcome to the FILTHY DOGS OF METAL Webzine.

1. Tell us a few things about FILOSA (Members, Starting Year etc).

Filosa started as a female band in 2016, with Mayra Arellano as the bass player and Eileen Curri as the guitarist. At the end of 2018, some changes were made in the band and Constanza Samhain started performing as the lead singer. And, in 2019, a new drummer, Ezequiel Castro, began to play in the band.

2. You have recently released your new demo ''Filosa''. What is the Feedback from your audience as well as from the Press?

The last video received positive feedback, mainly from the Argentinian female audience. At the same time, viewers from different countries and the international and local press became interested in the band.

3. Label or DIY and why?

Both, first DIY and then Label. DIY because it gives you the possibility to be independent and to self-manage. Besides, in Argentina, it is really expensive to record an album in a professional studio. A record label is useful . The equipment used in a professional studio is different from the one used when recording at home. Both are really enriching experiences for the band. We have never record with a label but we would love to.

4. Do you prefer Vinyl, Tape, CD or Digital Format and why is that?

We always prefer to release CDs or other devices in their physical format, but it’s really expensive That’s why we use the digital format. It’s more convenient because of its wide circulation. It is also more helpful because we self-manage. However,  the CD in its physical format is also practical.

5. Your music style is Heavy Metal. Which are your main influences (Favourite Artists / Bands etc.)

We are influenced by a wide variety of bands, mainly Judas Priest and Santa.

6. Which things, do you think, a Band should sacrifice in order to succeed?
Have you ever sacrificed anything in your life for a better future of your Band?

Everything. The band is our main priority. Yes, we sold our souls to the devil hahaha.

7. Describe your ideal live show as a performance Band. Have you already experienced that?

Our dream show would be one in which people are excited and happy to watch the band play live. We would like to see a lot of people there, enjoying the party. Yes. but we want more.

8. Which attributes, do you think, that a new Heavy Metal Band should have in order to gain identity and be unique?

To know how to live together in peace, to be passionate about what you are doing and to be talented.

9. Do you believe that Bandcamp and other Digital Platforms help the new Heavy Metal Bands? Which, do you think, is the ideal way for a Band to promote its work?

Yes, nowadays, digital platforms are essential because a lot of people from around the world can listen to our music. This is the good thing about the Internet: you can upload your material and people can share it. This is a great way to collaborate with the distribution of our music.

10. Tell us a few things about the New Underground Metal Scene in Argentina (Bands, Fanzines, Webzines, Metal Clubs etc.)

Even though, heavy metal isn’t the most popular music genre nowadays, a huge number of people still listen to it. Some bands organize their own shows. There are also fests and fanzines, among other things. But there aren’t many good places for the bands to play, and this is one of the reasons why Heavy Metal cannot be fully appreciated. Besides, the bands always have to work it out in order to play somewhere. Some people help you, but some others don’t.

11. Do you know anything about the Hellenic Metal Scene?

Yes, we know that it’s related to the Greek metal scene.

12. What are your future plans?

13. Thank you very much for your time & Keep up the good work! The closure is yours.

Thank you for the opportunity to talk about our band, so people can get to know our music a little bit more. And we also would like to thank our fans for all the unconditional support.
