Interview with DOUBLE CROSS

!!!HEAVY METAL FROM BRAZIL!!!

Welcome to the FILTHY DOGS OF METAL Webzine.
Tell us a few things about DOUBLE CROSS (Members, Starting Year etc).
Double Cross is a heavy metal band from Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais. After a few initial months of composition between Alex Albernaz and Thiago Brotão, the line up was completed in mid-2019 with the upcoming of drummer Gus. Since Double Cross relies on the experience of active musicians in the heavy music scene of the capital of Minas Gerais ( bands such as Impurity, Divine Death, Preceptor, Godalien,Wisache etc) the band came up with an EP in a short period of time.

In 2020 you have released your EP ''Obey Thy Master''. What was the Feedback from your audience as well as from the Press?
Our music was aired on important channels in the Brazilian underground media, such as METAL COM BATATA (METAL WITH POTATOS srsrs, what a perfect combination. Funny name, but they are fantastic), We participated in an excellent compilation The Thrash Metal Takeover, released by MOG RECORDS, alongside renowned names in the Brazilian metal scene. we were invited to give interviews to other international media, such as the one we did with Jona Jan from Legacy in Germany, among others. Better than we expected, since we are in the midst of a pandemic crisis.

Label or DIY and why?
Both ahahaha. Actually, we don't have the expertise needed to work as distributors.

Do you prefer Vinyl, Tape, CD or Digital Format and why is that?
I prefer Vinyl, but for a good experience you must have a good equipment to enjoy the most of the quality. I stay with CD and Vinyl.

Your music style is Heavy Metal. Which are your main influences (Favourite Artists / Bands etc.)
Our Old school sound has gained actual contours, colors and timbres. We find inspiration in good old dark heavy metal such as Mercyful Fate, Venom and Motorhead But also we are huge fans of new bands like Night Demon, Midnight, Unto Others. They are a fantastic source of inspiration.

Which things, do you think, a Band should sacrifice in order to succeed? Have you ever sacrificed anything in your life for a better future of your Band?
Sacrifice your Ego, sacrifice the wrong reasons, like money, for example. Nothing wrong with making money from your music, but if that's your main reason, chances are you'll be disappointed srsrsrs.

Describe your ideal live show as a performance Band. Have you already experienced that?
No patterns for this, as long as the audience responds well.

Which attributes, do you think, that a new Heavy Metal Band should have in order to gain identity and be unique?
I think, at his point of history, it's hard to reinvent the wheel, but you can express your feelings in a unique way, as long as you are sincere with your music.

Do you believe that Bandcamp and other Digital Platforms help the new Heavy Metal Bands? Which, do you think, is the ideal way for a Band to promote its work?
For sure, they do. And it's a mix of hard working. You should prromot your band in many platforms as possible. Make yourself well known in Instagram, Spotify and don´t forget to monetize Bandcamp.

Tell us a few things about the New Underground Metal Scene in Brazil (Bands, Fanzines, Webzines, Metal Clubs etc.)
A lot of really good bands out there, with no professional structure. Everybody it's trying their best with a lot of limitations actually. Mostly technical ones. The drive is there. But there are huge obstacles as well.

Do you know anything about the Hellenic Metal Scene?
I remember of once hearing BREAKING SILENCE. I love the way they mix their prog sound and good vocal melodies. Of course we all are huge fans of ROTTING CHRIST and VARATHRON. Greek Black Metal has a lot of identity. It´s a kind of unique sound.

What are your future plans?
Staying alive for playing Live, the things are not going well here in Brazil srsrsrsrsrs.

Thank you very much for your time & Keep up the good work! The closure is yours.
A huge THANK YOU for you guys from FILTHY DOGS OF METAL Webzine, your support means a lot to us. Thanks to Mauricio Atalla of MOG RECORDS.
