Interview with ANGELUST

!!!CHILDREN OF DARKNESS!!!

We had a conversation with ANGELUST. Enjoy!

Welcome to the FILTHY DOGS OF METAL Webzine.
1. Tell us a few things about ANGELUST (Members, Starting Year etc).

Eight years ago we heard the call of Hades to kill all posers; to crush all the trendy metalcore, emo and other hipster bullshit with the iron fist of true heavy metal. Thus Angelust was forged in fire and sealed in semen upon the succubi's breasts.
Our current line up consists of Steveo on drums and vocals, Thurisaz on guitar and vocals, Guy Muzarrelli on bass and Rev. J.R. Preston on lead guitar

2. In 2019 you released your EP ''Children Of Darkness''. What was the Feedback from your audience as well as from the Press?

All of the true underground maniacs recognized "Children of Darkness" as one of the best releases of 2019 and in turn sent us offerings of whiskey and used panties.
We don't pay attention to the press and they don't pay attention to us.

3. Label or DIY and why?

Our last three releases were done on our own label D.P. Productions, which is the top rock & roll label on the planet.

4. Do you prefer Vinyl, Tape, CD or Digital Format and why is that?

Vinyl is best, of course, but tapes and CDs are great, too. We are not fans of digital.5. Your music style is Black / Thrash Metal. Which are your main influences (Favourite Artists / Bands etc.)

We don't care about labels and cliques. Our influences are mostly old bands from nwobhm to black metal to punk. Venom, Bathory, Diamondhead, Slayer, Misfits, GG Allin and Mercyful Fate are some of the old gods we're inspired by. We also take inspiration from more recent bands like Abigail, Midnight and Darkthrone.

6. Which things, do you think, a Band should sacrifice in order to succeed?
Have you ever sacrificed anything in your life for a better future of your Band?

We have sacrificed many priests, nuns and other religious scumbags on our Satanic quest. The more holy blood we spill the stronger our legion grows.7. Describe your ideal live show as a performance Band. Have you already experienced that?

Our show at Metal Threat Fest in 2016 was for us an ideal gig. We played to a crowd of ravenous headbangers alongside such killer bands as Wastelander, Shitfucker, Midnight, Abigail and the mighty Bulldozer. No poser made it out of the club alive that night.

8. Which attributes, do you think, that a new Black thrash metal band should have in order to gain identity and be unique?

Again, we don't care for titles, but spend more time writing songs and rehearsing than putting nails on your jacket or wearing eyeliner. Do your own thing and fuck the trends!9. Do you believe that Bandcamp and other Digital Platforms help the new Black Thrash Metal Bands? Which, do you think, is the ideal way for a Band to promote its work?

Things like bandcamp and youtube are useful to get your music out to people, especially the younger generation who unfortunately didn't get to grow up with record stores and mailorders. Digital formats will never replace physical entirely, there is too much demand in the underground for that!

10. Tell us a few things about the New Underground Thrash Metal Scene in Illinois, USA (Bands, Fanzines, Webzines, Metal Clubs etc.)

In our city there is no scene, we are it. This place stinks of nothing but pop punk, metalcore and hippy bands. Clubs here are openly anti-metal and cater to main stream crap. We've been barred from clubs, banned by the park district for Satanic lyrics and shut down by the cops. Chicago has a couple of ripping thrash bands with Living Terror and Lethal Shock. Regionally, Bastard from St. Louis and Sauron from Detroit play killer old school black/thrash/heavy metal.11. Do you know anything about the Hellenic Metal Scene?

The old Hellenic black metal gods like Necromantia, Zemial, Varathron and Rotting Christ have all made some excellent music.

12. What are your future plans?

We're working on new songs for our third album which we plan to record this Spring, followed by a short mid-west tour in the summer.13. Thank you very much for your time & Keep up the good work! The closure is yours.

Thanks for supporting underground metal! Drink whiskey, kill posers, get laid and hail Satan! 666!
