Interview with THUNDERGRAVE

!!!MEXICAN HEAVY METAL!!!

We had a conversation with THUNDERGRAVE. Enjoy!

Welcome to the FILTHY DOGS OF METAL Webzine.

1. Tell us a few things about THUNDERGRAVE (Members, Starting Year etc).

Thundergrave is a band with influences of the classic / epic Heavy Metal formed in 2016 by Pablo "Abaddon Purgatory" (vocalist) in collaboration with Raul Dominguez guitarist of "STEEL NIGHT" as a study project, after this collaboration Gabriel Garcia was contacted  (guitarist) for the recording of a single and first track of the project, satisfied with the result and the ideas that Gabriel brings to this theme he decides to join in order to consolidate the epic sound influenced by classical and consecrated bands of the genre. It should be noted that this song has not yet come to light, but it is a theme that will be included in the long-term work. After a time of rehearsals and composition, Pablo contacts Jesus Constantino (Drummer) to record the songs of the first demo followed by an old acquaintance Gustavo "Execution" (Bassist) who finally joins the lineup providing his characteristic lines of bass & was  until then that they manage to consolidate the 3 themes that comprise the demo "Mystic Chains Of Destiny".Recently, at the end of 2019, David "Nocturnal Rider" leader and founder of "MANIAXE" (guitarist) is added to complete the line-up that Thundergrave forms today.

2. Recently you have released your new demo '' Mystic Chain Of Destiny ''.  What is the Feedback from your audience as well as from the Press?

We are very happy and grateful to the audience for the reception our work has had, the good comments they have had and especially the support, because thanks to the fact that many people, acquaintances, strangers, metal magazines, forums, have shared our music  and thanks to this we have been able to reach many people around the world and this fills us with much satisfaction and motivates us to continue working.

3. Label or DIY and why?

At the moment we decided to work independently but we do not discard in any way work under the support of a label as long as it respects our ideal work and is in favor of music.

4. Do you prefer Vinyl, Tape, CD or Digital Format and why is that?

We have no preference for any, because we consider the 4 formats important, especially to reach all kinds of audience.  Vinyl and tape are classic formats where the history of Heavy Metal was carved, the CD today is a standart and digital platforms allow access to your music no matter where it is and that is important especially for a band that  It starts and seeks to make itself known. At the moment the demo is only in CD format and on the band's digital platform, of course we hope to launch the EP in the 4 formats.5. Your music style is Heavy Metal.  Which are your main influences (Favorite Artists / Bands etc.)

In the band we all listen, love and live by Heavy Metal, in its purest state as well as its different styles, bands like Judas Priest, Manilla Road, Helloween, Bathory, Blind Guardian, Iron Maiden, Angus, Warlord etc. identify us, but in addition to that each member has their own influences that characterize their playing style, a musical fusion of different styles and different schools.

6. Which things, do you think, a Band should sacrifice in order to succeed? Have you ever sacrificed anything in your life for a better future of your Band?

A band is always a commitment that for the love of music demands a lot of effort and sacrifice on the part of all members, losing certain moments with family, friends, rehearsing with the band after a long day at work, investing in instruments and equipment to bring a quality show, demand and reach our limits.Although success is a word subject to the definition of who uses it, feeling satisfied with the result, in addition to the fact that people like and support us, is a great achievement.

7. Describe your ideal live show as a performance Band.Have you already experienced that?

An ideal show would be to be on a stage surrounded by all those people who like, support, know and listen to your music, where everyone will chant the songs, the melodies, feel the support and energy of the public, give them also an ideal concert. No, not yet, but we hope to one day be able to live that experience.8. Which attributes, do you think, that a new Heavy Metal Band should have in order to gain identity and be unique?

A Heavy Metal band, the first thing you should have is a very great love for both music and genre, to have a very strong motivation to help you in difficult times, dreams and similar ideals among members, who share their goals  and between all fight and support each other to reach them, that they polish their sound and study their songs thoroughly, when they think they are finished, keep working on them up to 100% satisfied and finally, that they respect their influences but do not seek to imitate, but take  their teachings and apply these in their own compositions.

9. Do you believe that Bandcamp and other Digital Platforms help the new Heavy Metal Bands?  Which, do you think, is the ideal way for a Band to promote its work?

Undoubtedly today digital platforms help bands that are starting to promote their work, especially those that allow the audience to support the bands acquiring their work, although obviously nothing exceeds the fact of acquiring the physical format, it is a  Good option to reach different places. The best way to promote your work is to share it in forums, places, communities or presentations that are within the scene, to reach the right people, who may like them and they recommend you and it is your music that leaves earning a place among the audience.

10. Tell us a few things about the New Underground Heavy Metal Scene in Mexico (Bands, Fanzines, Webzines, Metal Clubs etc.)

In Mexico there is a very vast under movement, many bands have done excellent works of all kinds of styles and in different formats that come to different parts of the world due to that musical quality, just as the fanzines support these, it really helps the bands that are beginning to have a diffusion within the community.

11. Do you know anything about the Hellenic Metal Scene?

Greece undoubtedly has an incredible quality and musical appreciation, the epic essence in its different styles defines them perfectly, in one of the festivals that we would be happy to attend would be the UP THE HAMMERS festival.12. What are your future plans?

We are currently working hard on the recording of our EP that we hope to present this year and in the same way we hope that we will open more spaces for live performances and continue working to consolidate ourselves as a band and gain a space in the current Heavy Metal scene  .

13. Thank you very much for your time & Keep up the good work!  The closure is yours.

Thank you very much FILTHY DOGS OF METAL for the space, in the same way we thank all the readers and all the people who have supported us by sharing our music, who have approached us, who have made a comment or always listening to our songs, as a band  We appreciate it very much and know that we are working on more music that we hope to announce very soon, keep rocking and let the thunder roar!
