Interview with SABER

!!!US HEAVY METAL!!!

We had a conversation with Joel (Guitar).Enjoy!

Welcome to the FILTHY DOGS OF METAL Webzine.
1. Tell us a few things about SABER (Members, Starting Year etc).

Steven wanted to start a new project and was really interested in Jesus and my (Joel) guitar playing from seeing us live with our previous band. We officially started the band in August of 2018. Immediately after we brought in a good friend of ours, David, to take on the bass duties. After months of searching, Steven met Charles, instantly clicked, and brought him in to play drums.

2. You have recently released your single ''Strike Of The Witch''. What is the feedback from your audience as well as from the press?
So far, majority of our audience has been giving us positive feedback and we were recently featured in Decibel Magazine.3. Label or DIY and why?
Label because we get a lot of support and makes it easier to reach a wider audience. It also gives us more opportunities to grow as musicians because we can focus more on our craft rather than the business side of this industry.

4. Do you prefer Vinyl, Tape, CD or Digital Format and why is that?
Nowadays it's more convenient to have digital music to stream because not everyone has a record or tape player. We personally love all platforms.

5. Your music style is Heavy Metal. Which are your main influences (Favourite Artists / Bands etc.)
Our main influences consist of Judas Priest, Scorpions, Megadeth, Blue Murder and Black Sabbath.

6. Which things, do you think, a Band should sacrifice in order to succeed? Have you ever sacrificed anything in your life for a better future of your Band?
Most of your social life because any free time you have has to be dedicated to getting better at your instrument and writing good songs. Some of us have left school to focus on music.Others had to end relationships to have more time to work towards bettering our musicianship. It all comes down to how bad do you really want it.

7. Describe your ideal live show as a performance Band. Have you already experienced that?
Our ideal show would be going all out on stage and interacting with the crowd. Having them sing back our songs to us would be the best thing ever. Unfortunately we have not played live shows with Saber due to the ongoing pandemic but we are viciously hungry and ready to attack the stage as soon as live gigs are back in place.

8. Which attributes, do you think, that a new Heavy Metal Band should have in order to gain identity and be unique?
You have to be ambitious towards what you wanna do as a band. You gotta have good songs and know how to put on a great live show because that's what people remember.9. Do you believe that Bandcamp and other Digital Platforms help the new Heavy Metal Bands? Which, do you think, is the ideal way for a Band to promote its work?
Thanks to all the new digital platforms, bands all over the world are being found at the click of a button. It makes it easier to show the world your music and interact with fans. Social media like Instagram and Facebook are a great way to post about what the band is doing so the fans can stay up to date and interact with the group.

10. Tell us a few things about the New Underground Metal Scene in Los Angeles, California USA (Bands, Fanzines, Webzines, Metal Clubs etc.)
The metal scene in LA has been thriving. There's bands like Exmortus and Fortress who are really great bands and can put on killer live shows. As for clubs, the Cha Cha Lounge is always the place to go to listen to great metal music and sometimes see awesome live bands.11. Do you know anything about the Hellenic Metal Scene?
Vavel, Rust and Spitfire are some amazing bands we love that came from that scene in the 80s.

12. What are your future plans?
We are planning on releasing our debut album in 2021 and hopefully tour and play as many live shows as we can to promote it.

13. Thank you very much for your time & Keep up the good work! The closure is yours.
Thank you for giving us the opportunity to be a part of this interview We will have our album out next year and hopefully we will get to see you guys at our live shows!
