Interview with RUNNING MAIDEN

!!!OLD SCHOOL HEAVY METAL FROM SWITZERLAND!!!

Welcome to the FILTHY DOGS OF METAL Webzine.

Tell us a few things about RUNNING MAIDEN (Members, Starting Year etc).
We are a three-piece from Lucerne, Switzerland trying to keep the old school spirit alive. It started out as a one-woman project in 2020 during quarantine. Out of fun on one hand but also a bit out of defiance since women aren't exactly respected in all of the metal community. Soon Ramon and Manuel joined and since then we do this thing together.

You have recently released your album ''Running Maiden''. What is the feedback from your audience as well as from the press?
It's been great fun seeing all of the positive responses until now and it's awesome sharing your joy for music with other like-minded people.

Label or DIY and why?
Up until now we've done everything ourselves and it's been incredibly rewarding but a label can for sure be a helping hand. So we're actually working on a release with Dying Victims Productions at the moment.

Do you prefer Vinyl, Tape, CD or Digital Format and why is that?
Something to be able to hold in your hands. Preferably vinyl, since it's objectively the best sounding medium but also the best looking. The connection to the artist and their music is in our opinion way deeper when you take that vinyl out for a spin. I mean every vinyl with its cover is a piece of art with a lot of thought put into by the artist.

Your music style is Heavy Metal. Which are your main influences (Favourite Artists / Bands etc.)
All out of the 70s and 80s! Tom G Warrior once compared us to Shaking Street or Acid which we definitely adore. But also Bands like Iron Maiden of course or new bands as well that represent the old school sound like Black Magic from Norway. Lyrics-wise we draw inspiration from old legends and the occult.

Which things do you think a Band should sacrifice in order to succeed? Have you ever sacrificed anything in your life for a better future for your Band?
To us the band is supposed to be fun, so no sacrifices except for virgins during full moons hahah.

Describe your ideal live show as a performance Band. Have you already experienced that?
I guess any show has the potential to be the best you've ever experienced. It's all about the energy.

Which attributes, do you think, that a new Heavy Metal Band should have in order to gain identity and be unique?
"Live for violence, die for metal, fukk off in hell, that's what you should do." -Sergeant Salsten, 2020 On a more serious note: Just be unapologetically yourself and go all out. The rest will follow.

Do you believe that Digital Platforms help the new Heavy Metal Bands? Which, do you think, is the ideal way for a Band to promote its work?
Whether you like it or not it's a huge help in networking and getting yourself out there. I wouldn't say it's easier though. As fast as you get the attention as fast it's gone again and it takes work to keep up with it.

Tell us a few things about the New Underground Metal Scene in Lucerne, Switzerland (Bands, Fanzines, Webzines, Metal Clubs etc.)
Switzerland is extremely small and so is its underground metal scene. Across the country there is an awesome community but in Lucerne there's sadly pretty much nothing but a few mentionable Bands which include Sin Starlett and Axxelerator.

Do you know anything about the Hellenic Metal Scene?
Up The Hammers seems to be an awesome festival! Otherwise not too much tbh but definitely open to discovering it.

What are your future plans?
Gigs! To play as many shows as possible for now.

Thank you very much for your time & Keep up the good work! The closure is yours.
It's been a pleasure and be our guest at the Bazaar Of Evil! Running Maiden
